Puritanism is English in origin, so don't blame us for this one.

Yahoo! is a US based company, and that's just how things work. The filter settings have the most common words we find offensive listed. If Yahoo! was based in the UK, the words you guys find offensive would be in the filter.

Censorship is sometimes necessary, for this is a public forum, with kids as well as adults. Plus, vulgarity in the extreme does nothing but pull down the quality of the whole site. For the sake of the above items, it is the law here.
