Very serious dogs, generally not very active. they are very docile, attached to his or her master big time...The dog is more shy than its cousin, the Bichon Frise. Bolognese enjoys companionship of people and forms a close relationship with its owner. mine howls when I'm not around or in another room not paying attention to her.
Most are friendly with strangers, but some are a bit timid, so he or she should get used to people and noises at an early age. The dogs do best with older children compared to younger kids as they tend to be too fast and aggressive with the dogs.

I can tell you I've judged them at a rare breed show before and were not overally impresssed...but then if I remember correctly they are of the a similar family to the Bichon (and i'm not a fan of Bichons).

Anyway, take a look at this site...and try a bookstore or online for a book. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/bolognese.htm
