Pray and ask God to open your heart and mind to Him. You are on your way that you even care.

The Holy Spirit can and will reach you whether your sensitive or not. For people like me, it's a necessity for the Holy Spirit because of my background and personality. When I first became a christian, I was concerned about the same thing. He reached me in personal ways and over time I "recognized" His voice. My advice is to abide in the vine as Jesus says. Getting in the word and studying is the best way to know the will of God. But in personal every day application, like if you've prayed for God to help you with something and your waiting, wait for the answer to present itself. He doesn't always "say" what He's going to do. He just moves on it. I think sometimes people, not to say you are, but some folks wait on a feeling, an emotion to come over them. Some times it happens but many times it doesn't. God wants us to "renew our minds" not our emotions. Don't wait on a feeling, but be a witness to God's actions.

God speaks though a number of different ways. He speaks first through his living word so read the Bible and look for what God is trying to tell you. Secondly he uses the people in your life to bring his plans to you. If your friends and family are all telling you similar things, make sure you pay attention. He also can use an experience, a thought, a song, a movie, etc. God is always communicating with us, we just need to make sure we are listening. Usually our heart hears him but our brain can get in the way.

How do you get sensitive to the voice of a friend or a loved one, by spending time with them. WE talk about our quiet times with the Lord, and that is exactly the thing we are talking about. It is time in the Word of God and time in prayer each day, and continual time of meditatin on His Word, and prayer to HIm all the time that keeps us sensitive to Him. Most Christians never do get sensitive to the voice of the Lord because they are in too much of a hurry. It takes years of patient time to know God, and Christians get impatient and start looking for an "experience" that will make them spiritual. They totally miss the real thing.

Find a quiet place
Read a section of scripture
Meditate on those verses
a. What it is saying
b. How do I need to change my life
c. What do I need to do today that will reinforce these scriptures

As you become more dedicated to this you will become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit

That little voice inside us that causes us to say, dammit,I should have listened to myself. That little voice that we are raised to call intuition? There lies your Holy Spirit. That nagging deep within that always warns us of what we need to be warned of.People, situations, all things are pre-screened for us if we just listen. You doubt your own opinions and turn to others for advice when your Holy Spirit is always inside prodding us to take a chance and believe in our own opinions. The more you trust your own judgment, the stronger the Spirit becomes.

God is not going to literally speak to you.He speaks to all of us through the pages of His Holy Word, the Bible.
The Holy Spirit is God's active force, what Jehovah uses to accomplish his purposes.Contrary to what Christendom teaches Holy Spirit is not a person. This is not a Bible teaching.

One may sit regularly for 15-20 mnts with eyes closed. Relax every cell of body and mind with a smile.

Save mind from whirls by serving people in need with compassion.

It does wonders.
