I always feel depressed and anxious and I am getting help for it. But my mom keeps telling me that I'm choosing to be this way. Why would I?? I hate it. I don't know if shes right and I'm just too stupid to realize it. Do you think she is right? That it all depends on your attitude and theres no such thing as depression?

There IS such thing as depression. I don't think that you are making yourself feel this way. Your mom kind of sounds like my mother. Things are going on in your life right now that is putting too much stress on you.

I think that mothers believe that if they admit that their child is depressed or anxious then they are admitting that they did something wrong in raising that child. My mother use to tell me that I could get over it any time that i wanted to.

Your mom's out of line. You recognize a problem and are getting treatment for it.

Congratulations and good luck.

its not all your fault...but you should try to be more optimistic and you should try not to think about things that make you feel that way...everytime when you feel that way do something you like or whatever makes you happy...
