If your bird is a single female, she will do this occasionally. Leave the egg alone until your bird shows no interest in it. Removing the egg before then will encourage your bird to continually lay, which is unhealthy for her. If she lay's continuously, see a vet,who will be able to treat her with medication.

Just like chickens, if there is no male present, there will be no little bird. Just an egg.

When you say nothing inside, it is hollow, or there are no little birds happening.

Also, some birds will lay eggs eventhough they are too young to actually "lay" eggs. Sometimes these eggs will seem hollow or very little inside them.

Depending on the bird, some females will not lay "real" eggs until they are 9 years old. Some males will not fertelize eggs until they are 9.

Ask the question again with more information on the Type of bird(S) you have, ages and kept conditions of the bird.

I'm guessing your pet bird is a cockatiel .......
I had a cockatiel for years and every few months she would lay eggs. You will need to keep a close watch on your bird, since you are not raising your bird to breed she is losing minerals she need, my vet always told me to give my bird protein while laying her eggs (ie chicken breast or scrambled eggs). Also they can become egg bound, that is a very serious situation and can kill your bird. My cockatiel was 7 years old when she got egg bound and passed away.

If she doesn't have a mate, the eggs will not be fertile.
If she does have a mate but the eggs are still not fertile, try clipping the small feathers around the vent (rear opening) of both birds. The sperm may not be getting where it needs to go because of too many feathers in the way.

If it's only one bird in the cage, there will never be anything in the eggs. Just toss them. As far as I know..all female birds lay eggs whether or not there is a male around.

The others are right in telling you to seek veterinary assistance if there is a breeding mate in with her. And if not, it is normal- females lay eggs when they reach maturity with or without male assistance. . HOWEVER....if she keeps laying eggs and you are removing them from her cage....STOP!!! She loses calcium each time she lays an egg and she can get sick. You will have to leave at least 1 egg in there with her- they even make fake eggs that you can swap out. You can also get her a supplement to add to her food that you can get at most pet stores and sprikle on her food (oyster shells)

If its a female then its nothing u need to worry about because its perfectly normal for them to do that but if its a male then something is wrong with it and u will need to take it in to the vet.
