Usually, bravery is something that develops in the heat of battle. Knowbody really knows how they will react to a hostile situation until they are there, under fire. Bravery is an individual thing. Rarely do you hear about a unit being awarded a ribbon for bravery, but often you do hear about individuals being awarded, based on his or her conduct under fire!

I think that you need to make a clear distinction between the two.
The British SAS (Special Air Service) is a specialized unit within the British Army and is mainly used these days as a counter terrorism unit. The British SAS is considered a 'commando' unit perhaps comparable with the US Delta Force or the German GS9.
The Gurkhas are an actual people from Nepal that have been recruited into the British Commonwealth Forces for about 200 years. They are known for their bravery and ferocity in combat but they are not special forces.
The SAS conducted many very brace raids during WWII (I think St. Nazaire and Narvik were two if you're interested) while the Gurkhas fought mainly in India with some units in the European Theatre during several key battles.
I don't think that you can easily compare the bravery of the 2. Perhaps if you were to look at a list of successful actions of both (or for bravery's sake look a unsuccessful actions!) and compare them.

Which army is Braver? Interesting question, impossible to really answer since there is no way to quantify bravery. What can be answered is this The Gurkas and the SAS are both British. The original Gurka Regiment's are recruited Nepali's in the British Army. The SAS are Special Operations soldiers who are volunteers from other Regiments of the British Army.

It depends. A battalion of Gurkhas would strike fear into any enemy but 4 SAS soldiers whilst they may not strike fear ( because the enemy wouldnt know and therefore wouldnt have anything to fear ) could cause devestating disruption to the enemy. If you had a full SAS regiment vs a full Gurkhas regiment i would think the SAS would wipe the Gurkhas of the battlefield. No disrespect to the Gurkhas but the SAS are the best of British.
I think the SAS are braver just because of what they have to do

Both British Regiments are Brave although they are Brave for different reasons. The Ghurka's show sheer bravery in the face of o9verwhelming odds or certain death etc.
The SAS are brave in the fact that they are trained for any eventuality on any terrain and always get my utmost respect. They go into these situations, and are prepared for any amount of brown stuff hitting whirly blades.
In a regiment V's Regiment excercise i would put my wages on the SAS.

the gurkhas are born very brave men, they are from their own hearts already very brave, they are not like the SAS which before joining the military are mommy's boy, gurkhas from the age of 5 are used to killing animals in the forest for survival, so they are more brave then the SAS i think.

Both are well regarded but definately the gurkhas strike the most fear into their enemies.
History shows Italian and German troops withstanding bombardments but fleeing upon rumour of a gurkha attack.
