The Prophet May Allah's peace and praise be on him said, "Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning, so if someone sneezes and then praises Allah, then it is obligatory on every Muslim who heard him, to say: May Allah be merciful to you (Yar-hamuka-l-lah). But as regards yawning, it is from Satan, so one must try one's best to stop it, if one says 'Ha' when yawning, Satan will laugh at him." -- Hadith - Bukhari 8.240, Narrated Anas bin Malik

LOL...that's hilarious.

I'm going to have to start reading the Koran more, I didn't know it was so funny, I just thought it was all about slaughtering the infidel.

Interesting! Maybe because yawning IS controlable while sneezing is not? Yawning can be a sign of boredom, so Allah probably doesn't like people falling asleep while praying.

In the past, Christians believed that the devil was close when you sneezed, hence the "God bless you" that is now just considered a polite thing to say. Perhaps the two (sneezing and yawning) got mixed up in a translation somewhere?

Yawning is how the lungs force air into them. Sometimes it is caused by lazy breathing. Ultimately, it is from lack of oxygen.
