the bladder is the same size in both men and women

average amount of liquid it can hold is 7-13oz (50-500ml)

In the young age the bladder for both girls and boys would be the same but as the age grows the mens prostate gland starts growing and this shrinks the bladder slowly that is the reason old men could not hold there urine for longer periods whereas for women the bladder remains more or less the same size through out their life and so as the age grows the mens bladder is smaller than that of the women of the same age. All this is due to the prostate enlargement factor in males.

Not sure why this is listed under "cancer", but...

The original edition of Gray's Anatomy actually says women, but most modern sources suggest that men can hold a larger capacity *in general*, but that may not be because of the size of the bladder, it may just be that men don't have a uterus sitting on top of it.

Anecdotally, in my experience most of the people I've known with really large OR really small bladders have been guys. No idea why that would be, just a trend among people I've known. Some of my friends pretty much never have to pee, and others, like myself, can go 20 times a day if we have even a little bit to drink. Haven't really noticed either of those extremes in many women... but again, this is just what I've noticed, not a medical opinion. :)

Bladder size is generally the same between the two sexes. Though , the tubes that carry urine from the bladder to the outside of the body are longer in men.

How much fluid the bladder can retain, however, depends on the individual.

I don't know for sure, because I have no medical training. But I would assume, that they're either the same size or that a male bladder is bigger - due to the fact that most men are generally bigger than women.

Interesting question. I just had to add that after I gave birth to my first daughter, I had trouble going to the bathroom. They finally gave in and did a cath and drained a liter and a half. I think women can hold it long.....it makes my eyes water just thinking about all the pee in my poor little bladder.

I think a man has a bigger bladder because I can NAIL five pints and still not need a p**s yet birds are off to the bog very five minutes to "powder their noses"

interesting question, it's generally accepted that women can retain their urine for much longer than their male counterparts.

Not sure about bladder size though.
