Looking back over 50 years and 3 marriages, I'd say I wouldn't do it again. I did before, and actually married the girls, and both marriages ended in disaster, exactly as my friends and family predicted.
One of the most important lessons you can learn - and the sooner you do the better off you'll be - is that you don't know everything and it's foolish not to take advantage of all the heads around you. Especially those who care about you.
If you were getting flak from just one male friend, say, you might be able to chalk it up to jealousy, but if your friends and family don't like her, there's something you can't see and you should trust their judgment.
Bottom line: there's no reason not to be friends with a person who's different than you - that's sometimes part of the attraction - but trust me when I say that the people who know and love you really do want you to be happy, despite what you think, and you can't really be objective. You like what you like. You can't help it. But if you stick around long enough you'll see that your family and friends are right. You can either trust them now or go crawling to them later with your tail between your legs.
I've been there.
Twice.
It's really not worth it.

R u an indian?
It happens mostly in India. M also afraid of these things bt against it. Why people r divided in diff. casts?
U shud date whom u love. Forget abt cultural diff.
I would go ahead coz d person i love, i love her 4ever. I can't change friends or partners due 2 any cultural diff.
U shud also go ahead with whom u want 2 go n u love.
Thank u!

Well, I am dating a girl that my family and friends do not approve of, but it has nothing to do with culture. If it did, I'd tell them to eat sh*t. A different culture adds spice to life and if their minds are stuck in the 1950's they seriously need to grow up.

Do You man if you love her and are happy with her then be with her dont let anybody else control your feelings. i have been in that type of situation before and am in that situation again. The first time i let my family get in the way of me being happy with the girl, and now i am with her again and my family cant say anything because i am happy with her and i know i love her
so do what you think is right and if you think loving her is wrong then dont be right that is a quote from and old school R&B group from back in the day.
Remember love is blind and only you can see it not any body else.
And barbertono that is your experinence dont discorage this kid if her lover her and she loves him then it is ment to be.
Get it Got it good

I don't understand the "cultural differences" part, as I see everyone as "a person" rather than labeling them. So, yes...I wouldn't let differences stop my dating. And I would explain myself to my family and friends to allow them to understand how silly it is to NOT approve.

Yes I would date her but I am not sure if I'll marry her as I love my family and would not want to destroy the relationship. You can replace girlfriends or boyfriends, but you cannot replace your parents.
