You can understand if you ask God to give you the ability to understand. See, speaking in tongues is when your spirit and God's Spirit communicate. Your
'physical" self is not meant to understand. However, if you ask God (don't beg) to give you revelational knowledge so that you operate in phronesis and begin to prohesy through the power of the Holy Spirit he will do it.

There are two type of "speaking in tongues/other languages."

First there is your Heavenly prayer language, known as speaking in tongues. It is when you pray and your spirit has a direct connection with God. You will not know what you are saying but this will edify your spirit. This is for you and you alone. It is for no one else.

In a Church setting (Bible study, etc) when someone is speaking in tongues and other languages, there must be an interpreter present to explain what the spirit is saying to the masses. Otherwise, it will cause confusion and miss-understanding.

I have seen and personally experienced this form of communication from God to His children. It can only be explained by the Holy Spirit.

You can study the New Testament and see these are gifts from the Holy Spirit.

Do a search on: Speaking in tongues, you will find Paul taught this. You can do it on-line at: www.biblegateway.com or www.bible.com

Hello. Generally speaking, speaking in Tongues is supposed to be understood by others speaking it, although, if you use any logic, it's clearly a hypnotist/hypnotee relationship. One person takes the lead, and the other plays along.

But the story of speaking in Tongues in the Bible clearly stated that they were speaking a new language and they did understand each other. Of course, the language, if you call it that, probably varies and changes per "session" so that it would be impossible to decode and learn as a set language.

When you speak in tongues it is the Holy Spirit who gives you the utterances. You are speaking to God in a language not known to you but God understands it. Only the Holy Spirit can give an interpretation of what is spoken in tongues if the situation requires Him to do so.

The Bible says that speaking in tongues was given to those who use it only to given the message of His Love and Truth. Not to make noises and imaginary words to some imaginary group of people or angels.

this is the idea, u don't understand.
i had a lot of question about it before i baptized in the Holy Spirit.
i was afraid from it, i just can't understand it.
so i start to check the bible for it and study it very well.
then i read books about it.
and after all i descovered that its not something that coming from out side to enter in my body or whatever i was thinking.
but actually its ur passion to God, ur feeling ur thoughts all of u just want to live to God , all this passion to be more close to know him more to love him more, this is all about.
don't think about tongues just think about God
i didn't feel anything strange when i baptized i just was happy and speaking in another tongues to bless him.

its wonderful, just love God and trust Him

Speaking in tongues is a language that no man understands. Only God. Not even satan can hear your prayers.
It is your soul speaking directly to God.

It's the expression of a delusional schizoid mental disorder and more often just a scam. It is futile to try to make sense out of it.
