The Talon was made by a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi and they were made in Normal, Illinois I think. There were three versions of this car. The Eagle Talon, the Plymouth Laser, and the Mitsubishi Eclipse. They were all basically the same but different body parts. I've never really heard any bad things about them but then again I've never owned one.

Not really.
This is a DSM car (Diamond Star Motors) which, as was mentioned, was a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler.
These cars are known to break motor mounts and suffer from a problem known as "crankwalk". I had a friend with an Mitsubishi Eclipse with the same engine and it happened to him. Without getting too technical, the engine is literally tearing itself apart.
This car is trouble, I would avoid it. Bottom line.
Find yourself a Celica instead. Even a Ford Probe (built by mazda) would be a better choice.
