Fueteventura, - has much better beaches (non-volcanic), avoid southern tenerife like the plague - especially playa las americas.

In Tenerife you can do anything you feel like any time of the season because of their climate, normal surroundings and tourist infrastructure made for enjoyment for all the household so this place is the perfect place for an excellent holiday and with hotelbye you are certain to get it. In Tenerife are a lot of points waiting for you to learn and some of those is in the south west shore of Tenerife. A spot that's a magnificent position for seeing whales free in the ocean. Up to 26 species are located only off the coast, including baleen whales, killer whales, dolphins, pilot whales and even blue whales. In Tenerife you will even see The Teide National Park. At 3,718 metres, Teide volcano is Spain's best maximum and its two ecosystems produce the climb an event saturated in contrasts.

I know all of the 7 Canary Islands. They are all great and very different one from another.
Lanzarote - volcanic, black sand beach, quite quiet and calm
Fuerteventura - all beaches and withe sand. Only sun and water/wind sports
Gran Canaria - very complete : great city, great beaches, great mountains, crowded in the south
Tenerife : not good for beaches, very crowded, but an excursion to the Teide is worth.
The other 3 : La Palma, el Hierro and La Gomera good for mountain walking and silence. But the best of these La Palma.
It all depends on what you are looking for.

I'd say Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura. Cheap and cheerful! Always fun!

Teneriffe's out then. As for gran Canaria, it's full of Gerries and chavs and even worse, it's a gay bum fest too. Lanzarotte is best for quiet family hols I believe.
