I have a very healthly beautiful 2 year old Italian Mastiff. He was fine last night when we went to sleep. He sleeps on the floor next to my side of the bed. When He got up this morning he couldn't walk. He is favoring his front right leg or paw. The poor thing wants to do his usual following me but he only made it to the living room and plopped in his bed out their. I can't even get him to come to me so I can take him ouside. And I am not about to attempt to carry him out to use the bathroom. it's 6:30am so I have a little while till my vet is open. Hust seeing what people have to say about it. Maybe something will ease my mind

Paws seem fine, nails in between toes. I have pressed all over on his paws and leg all the way up to his shoulder. No eveidence that any of it hurt. He just laid there on his side stareing at me. The only thing is he did seem to not want me to straighten his leg. He wants to keep it bent at the joint between his elbow and paw so that it is curled under him with his pads facing his belly and his nails pointing to the back of him.

make sure the dog does not have a tick check him over, also he may have slept on it wrong and it may be better within 20 min or so, he also may have been bitten by a spider if he is licking his paw alot then check it inside his toes if he will let u he may have a spider stuck there and its biting him! you really need to check him over it is very strange make sure he sees a vet make sure that he is well hydrated and keep him in a quiet dark room dont make him walk on it and regulary check in on him too make sure if any other symptoms appear eg, vomiting or whining you need to take him to a 24hr vet!

Good luck let us know how he goes!

Cheers

Hi If you have snow where you live your dog could have a salt pellet lodge in their. My dog did and it gets in between the pads so small I couldnt see it and then it caused a bad infection.

Other things can be just a twist from being playful or sometimes they might have stepped on a slier of glass.Check very carefully. If the dogs pads are dry and cracking add a little vasoline to them or baby oil.Check the toe nails as well sometimes one o the nails gets cracked and and will be terrible sore..good luck

certainly have to get your puppy to an emergency vet, proper now. You must have performed it two days in the past, however for the reason that you did not, the heavy respiring isn't a well signal. Don't wait til the morning. Go now. Your puppy is discomfort. It has commonly been hit via a vehicle or every other type of trauma harm.

That happened to my Chihuahua once. He just woke up and started hopping and not bearing down at all on one of hindlegs. My problem was that whenever I tried to examine it, he would snarl and nip at me. I waited until he was asleep and noted that one if his nails was cracked down to the quick. Took him to the groomers and that was that--I hope your prob is that simple.
