I believe it and I think its admirable. Especially for a guy - with more pressure being put on you from society to be sexually active. I wish I had had that kind conviction and confidence in myself when I was younger. Don't let what other people believe affect you. Ultimately you will answer only to yourself if things go wrong and lets face it- in today's world it can go horribly wrong. If they don't believe that you're a virgin then thats just a reflection of their shaky morals and narrow minds. Keep going strong and one day when you meet the right woman that you ulimately want to engage in sexual activity with you will feel really good about yourself and she will feel really special.

First i must congrats for staying as a virgin for so long. I am a 24 yr old guy and still a virgin and i am proud of it. Not many people can do that. There is nothing wrong to be feel like a virgin guy. why is that u must care about what people say to u. Don't be influence by other people. it is a asset to be a virgin not many people can actually resist the temptation of having sex. What is so proud of losing their virginity at a young age. There is no big deal about it except that they experience the sex at a early age. The most importantly, save ur viginity for the one who u really think it is special to u. But on the hand, when u marry a gal that u likes be sure of one thing, she might not be a virgin. Don't expect the same way as u does.

Most guys are the ones that take the girl's virginity away! And, most guys are dogs and that is all they want!!! So, that is why you are considered the "rare" breed!
When you find the right girl than you will understand what the hype is all about!!! But, honestly...I would find it hard that a 20 yr old male is still a virgin...that is not a bad thing!!! But...I rather hear that you are sensible than on yahoo asking everyone what are the signs of being pregnant because you had unprotect sex with your gf!!!

"respect"
"will power"
"give in"
"save their virginity for someone special"
you make it sound like your inexperience is a special gift.
What extra do you bring to a relationship by never having had sex?
In older times there were issues about pregnancy, viewing women as possesions, religious aspects
well.... nowadays we have contraception, so pregnancy is not an issue
women are (supposedly) judged on their own merits, not as someones chattels, so the possesion thing is not an issue
religion is different thing... but, as you say you are not religious, why should that concern you?
do you m@sterbate? does that count in your definition of virginity?
I think this question says a lot more about you, as a person, than
it does about society's views on virginity

There are 9 year old girls getting pregnant these days. Pretty much everyone is having sex. Most people jump at the opportunity to have sex because society tries to make it glamourous. Anyone by your age has most likey had many chances to "get lucky" and most of them probablly have. Just because you aren't like other people and think that sex is special doesn't mean anything bad. I always wanted to wait for someone special but not for marriage. I thought I found that special someone a couple different times... they all turned out not to be. I've been celebate for a year and a half and wish I would have been like you and waited completely but I wasn't that lucky. People call me crazy too but we're just different... don't let anyone give you crap about it, just take eveything they say with a grain of salt.

It's caused in part by the age we live, where losing one's virginity is seen as something to be done quickly and without thought for consequences. There are many people who are still virgins in their twenties. I saw a statistic recently which said about 5% of the Western population are virgins at 25. Many people are sensitive about their virginity, so we can assume that 5% is a conservative figure.
There's no rush to lose your virginity, and equally once you lose it you will not regret waiting so long. Sex is an important part of life, but it is not the only part.

This is wonderful and I believe that there are a lot of virgins above the age of 20!This is not something to shame of! Find the right person and then give your body and soul to the sex pleasure!
I lost my virginity when I was 19 and nobody believes me 'cause they were sure that I'm too beautiful to guard myself SO long but the truth is that there are few men who can really impress me and show me that they deserve me!

I dont understand why you think not having sex is respectnig yourself?!?!
Sex is the most natural, loving, and great experience in life.
You may save yourself for someone special, but part of a good relatioship is sex. And most people in their early 20s have met at least 1 special person to have fun with...
You might wait for years, and realise the illusion that youve built in your head is soooo wrong.
Its great that youve got a lot of self respect, but dont be so precious over things.

I don't find it hard to believe at all. Congratulations! My husband and I were BOTH virgins on our wedding night. Actually, in this day and age I find it sad that people attach absolutely NO meaning to sex (until they get pregnant, of course, and then they can't believe that their "booty call" doesn't want them forever).
Better to be sensible and think about what you're doing than to just fall into bed with everyone and regret it later.

I admire your will power esp. the fact that you're a guy. I'm a pretty good-looking 18 year old girl and I've never had sex and I'm not planning on doing it until I'm absoloutley ready. I'm not religious either but I don't compromise my principles. I respect my body and myself and I'm not just going to do something just because it is "accepted". Human beings are just like sheep, the one goes this way then all of them do.
