More Info...
Southern Ireland is known as Eire and is not part of the United Kingdom although the whole of the Island of Ireland is part of the British Isles.
The United Kingdom was created by an Act of Parliament in 1801.
In the Middle Ages, Wales was made up of several small kingdoms or principalities which, by 1300, had come largely under English control. But Wales was only formally incorporated into England by Parliamentary legislation that began in 1536.
Scotland and England had separate monarchies until 1603, when King James VI of Scotland succeeded Queen Elizabeth I on the English throne. A full merger of the two countries, forming the Kingdom of Great Britain, followed in 1707.
Ireland had come under varying degrees of English influence from the 12th century onwards, but was not united to Great Britain until the 1800 Act of the Union. In 1922 southern Ireland withdrew from the union.
The term Great Britain is from a Norman term "Grande Bretagne" to distinguish it from Bretagne or Brittany as it is called now, in France.

I think I have answered a similar question some times ago. However, since this is an ever repeating questions for the people living outside UK, I am repeating the same here:
Great Britain is an island lying off the northwestern coast of mainland Europe and to the east of Ireland, comprising the main territory of the United Kingdom.
Great Britain is also used as a geopolitical term describing the combination of England, Scotland, and Wales, which together comprise the entire island and some outlying islands.
In everyday speech and non-official writing in all English-speaking and most other countries, "Great Britain", and simply "Britain", are much more commonly used than "United Kingdom" to designate the sovereign state officially known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
On the other hand, the British Isles are a group of islands off the northwest coast of continental Europe consisting of Great Britain, Ireland, and several thousand smaller surrounding islands and islets.
There are two sovereign states located on the islands: the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The group also includes the Isle of Man, a United Kingdom crown dependency. Both states, but not the Isle of Man, are members of the European Union.
Between 1801 and 1922, Great Britain and Ireland together formed the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
In 1922, Ireland left the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom, except for six counties in the north east of the island, which became known as Northern Ireland.
PS. The term "British Isles" can be confusing and is objectionable to some people in Ireland.

England is a constituent united states of america, meaning that a collection of international locations make up a extra robust entity super Britain includes britain, Wales, and Scotland and includes outlying islands properly-known simply by fact the british isles. uk is super Britain + northern eire the country is the united kingdom, this is the call used at the instant, yet not often ever do you spot England, Wales, Scotland, & Northen eire united as one for issues like the Olympics or the FIFA international cup The variations got here approximately especially simply by royal households. First Wales fell under administration of england in 1284. After the death of Queen Elizabeth I, who did not have infants, the English crown (and Wales) fell into the palms of her cousin James of Scotland, organising super Britain in 1707. In 1800, the dominion of super Britain united with the dominion of eire forming the united kingdom. whether a war broke out between the two kingdoms and the united kingdom replaced into decreased in length to be in simple terms super Britain and northern eire. This makes England the oldest call of the three.
