i wake up ..and the left side of my tongue is swollen..what do i do besides call 911?

As long as you can breathe (which I am assuming you can since you are taking the time to ask on YA vice calling 911), you aren't in any immediate danger.
If the swelling goes down over a short time, there is nothing to worry about. It could be that your mouth got very dry and it feels as though your tongue is swollen. If the swelling doesn't go down, you should go see a Dr.

Get to a doctor, FAST! This sounds like a serious allergic reaction to something.

You need to go to the doctor you are having a allergic reaction & they will give you a shot of benadril.
