They're capturing all the smells in their super sensitive noses. :) Some may like the wind sensation too though.

When your dog puts his head out the window for the wind it is FUN!!(Try it one day when you have someone else driving slowly) I used to do it on the train. But If you blow in his face He perceives it as being aggressive , just as I think you would if someone blew in your face hard.
I'm sure if you blew gently on his ears you would get a lick on the face , as I've never known a dog not to enjoy a GENTLE blow on the ears (not in)
PS. check your breath just in case, no one likes garlic breath, (No Offence but just in case)
The main thing to remember is that if you like it he probably Will, and if you don't , then he will probably be the same.

I like the other girl's answer about "capturing the smells". My dog's nose goes wild with sniffing while hanging out of the window.

they do it because their owners don't know that they can get a very bad infection from bugs and debris flying up their nostrils and into their ears and eyes!!
