im 14 and started smoking this oct after i got cut from the basketball team in high school. guess i always wanted to and told myself if i couldnt play sports that i would do it. well ive been at it for three months and i gotta admit it was hard. at first it made me feel so sick but i kept at it and now ive fonally learned how to do it right and i love it. its my only reason for getting up in the morning. i know its bad and to tell you the truth i love that it is. i guess in a way im geting even with my body for not being able to do what i wanted. anyway, im geting hooked now and i really want to be able to smoke as much as i want so i can really get into it but that means being able to smoke at home. how do i get them to accept my choice so i can get on with what i want to do/

i definately do NOT want to quit. It was hard as hell to get past all the coughing and the nausea and now i actually like it. Plus i see all these hot girls smoking and i know they want smoking guys so im definately into smoking for the long run. I know its bad and I DONT CARE. In fact if it kills me then GREAT! I just want to be able to tell them so i dont have to worry about hiding the smell and can smoke in my room

They can probably already smell the smoke on you (you can't disguise it when you smoke). You are young so if they find out or you tell them expect a hard time.

You don't get them to accept your choice. You sounded like a spoiled child. You need to quit now before your health is ruined. Instead of whining about being cut from the basketball team why not practice hard and try again next year. You are only a freshman and I will bet a lot of freshman got cut and they did not all start smoking. You want to be treated like an adult you must start to act like an adult which means you should not be breaking the law. Smoking is illegal for children under 18.

Tell them right away you are smoking.
Tell them what you told us,why you are smoking, etc.
But I hope you really know tha consequences of smoking such as lung cancer, etc. Then imagine your teeth getting ugly, your body getting poisonous substance, so you may end up also being cut from girls' attention!
So better think of other ways to keep you going.
You can play basketball on your own or in your neighborhood.Do anything that interest you.
A real man doesn't depend on substance just to start the day or to feel good about himself!
Feel good by treating your body right!Do bodybuilding or any exercise and while exercising you will feel"high" or feel good too!

Giiirl drop the habit.I know you dont want to hear it, but really drop the habit. You're not getting back at your body because it cant play sports..ITS SO MUCH OUT THERE IN LIFE...Guys,clubs,parties,education,careers and so many things to get into. You're not getting back at your body you're harming youself! Do you not love your life? Do you not want to live to have kids? Dont you want to explore life to it's fullest? Smoking brings health hazards! You're reading this and saying ''whatever'', but ITS TRUE. I smoked at 15 and realized it wasnt good.I quit at 18 and it was sooo hard! Get out while it's still easy.Smoking isnt good for you and it's not cute.A woman looks horrible with a cigarette stuck in her mouth! Eww. How dumb is it to smoke? u buy an expensive pack of cigarettes..inhale and exhale...WOW YOU LOOK REALLY SMART! Stop it Girl! Best of luck. If you tell your parents maybe they can help you!

You just tell them and that would be all. But I think you should quit smoking because this habbit will turn into a burden considering the anti-tobaco policy: you wouldn't be able to work in an environment where smoking is prohibited, not to mention the health and insurance problems.

Light one up at the dinner table after dinner, look at your dad and say, "So, have you checked out the DOW lately pops??" And blow a cloud in his face. See what he does after that.

If I was you, I'd quit. It ain't gonna do anything good for ya bro. I quit for a 5th time 3 months ago. I'm sure I've probably got some kind of cancer by now. I started when I was 12, I'm 37 now. Quit while you're still young little dude. :)

Peace.

Toughie!

I smoked for a year before the oldies found out. I didnt know how to tell them either!

I ended up doing it the easy way and just having a ciggie out the front of my house when i knew my dad would be home shortly.

When he saw me i acted surprised and dropped it.

When he came over i said everyone at school did it and they called me chicken.

I know it was a sheepish way, but i was relieved when it was out in the open.

i takes a while until they were comfortable with me smoking around them though

GOOD LUCK PLAYA !!!

i think you should quit because you don't want to be the type that gets addicted to things. its really not cool and a lot of girls/women won't kiss a guy that smokes. i know so many people that have died of lung cancer and it ain't pretty. i don't mean to preach or anything its just that smoking sucks. just cause your bad at one sport doesn't mean you should ruin your body. try something else. my sister got cut from basketball and ended up getting a soccer scholarship to college....also smoking is one of the things you never tell your parents about...

well tough, there kiddo, how damn foolish are you?? APPARENTLY YOU THINK THIS IS A GREAT THING TO DO------trying to make an inpression on someone(??. ) HOW FOOLISH-are you trying to kill yourself. The only way your parents are really not going to notice the smoke is if they too are smokers as smoke from cigs is as nasty as it can get-your clothes stink, your room will stink just from you being in it AND NOT SMOKING in your room. SUCH a "wanna be " big man and yet just an IGNORANT CHILD.

Please listen to all of the advice on this question to quit, I am a smoker 44yrs old, I want to give it up and have tried many times I am going to try again. It isn't good for you, it's expensive in more ways than one. Some of the statistics around should be enough to make you want to stop one that I have heard is that it is more addictive than heroin and three times as hard to give up than heroin.
