Can we use the DOS "copy command" in XP to copy a file to a folder by creating a copy of the original file like when we use explorer to copy the file.

Yes, you can.

Just open the dos command window, and enter" copy /?" to check out the command how to use the "copy" to copy files

I've successfully used it for that purpose. It's not really the dos command in XP... it's an emulation of the DOS command.

Sometimes your emulator sees full long format names and sometimes it sees truncated names with ~ and a number in... if you used it for an old 'real' dos command beforehand. So you might not see the names you expect.

ya you can do that
by creating a batch file
and running it
...
batch file basically runs the dos commands to be executed via xp

copy & paste, & time all depends on the size of the file>:)
