Meritorious promotion to Corporal is a high achievement for a young Devil Dog. It is one of the greatest honors for a outstanding non NCO. This means your unit beleives you capable of all the leadership traits. Marines will look up to you and some will hate you. But you are the only one responsible for your promotions. I beleive you should be best at no matter what you do in life. If your gonna be a Marine be the best Marine you can. Dont get into any trouble!!!! i.e. drinking. Dont throw it all away. In the Corps you can go from hero to zero in a flash. Stay Motivated and hardcore. wheter you do your four or you stay for 30. Always beleive in the Corps and live up to the highest standards possible. Now if you win the board, you must take the responcibility and take charge. Theres no maybes in the Corps. Read the NCO Creed. And once you get promoted request to go to Corporals Course right away. I got Meritorious Promotions the whole way. E-6 in 4 and a half years.Because I beleive in the Corps to the fullist. Then like an idiot I got out. Now Im trying to get back in. Figure out what kind of Leader you want to be and take charge! Never half ***. Always stay true to yourself the Corps and your troops.

And study for the board!! Dont make a fool of yourself and your unit.

Too early to make more money and take on additional responsability? Are you seriouos? Congratulations. Just keep doing what you are doing. Ask the advice of other junior nco's if you get your corporal stripes. You got a good jump on your career. Good luck. Keep your powder dry and your head low.

Either you are very, very, good or one hell of a brown noser.
As a Marine Plt Sgt, I shot down the promotion of many a Marine until they had passed at least 4 MCI courses.
I held "School" 1 night a week to improve my men's military education and prepare them for promotion.

The marines does not hand out promotions like candy. If they think you are worthy, accept it, or they will start to doubt your ability as a marine, and you may find future promotions extremely hard to get.

They were not making you a favor, nor they ofered you that as a gift; they did so simply because they really thought you can handle that.

I certainly think it is too early, since you can't spell.
