I am not sure. I find Algeria to be a nice and friendly place. I currently work in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria. I am from the States and would work over here forever if I could. I think the people and the culture are so cool. I feel that because people actually have no idea of where Algeria is, they automatically think it is far more to the East than it is. By doing this they assume that it is closer to the troubled areas than it is. If people could actually see how nice and welcoming Algerians are to people, then they would be ashamed of how ignorant they are. If I was you, I would keep my head held high, and be proud that you come from a great and wonderful country.

Probably because of simple ignorance and prejudice. Just be yourself and exude self confidence and show others the light within yourself and soon they will realize (hopefully) that their fears were unjustified.
