Here we go again....we have a new law being introduced to protect the rights of gay people and the religious groups protest against that. It's equal rights for religious people as long as it goes their way!!!

Gays should have equali rights which dont have now...

Its the relgious who are wrong.

For proof lets look at history...

Are gay areas or the middle east and holy land the most violent.?

Do gays have a history or mass muder in relgious wars or inquisitions etc?

the relgious do.

Therefore gays are more moral.

And actually more in common with the likes of jesus who said

Morality is about doing unto others as you would have then do unto you...

What are the Sexual Orientation Regulations (SOR)?

Through the Equality Act 2006, the government are implementing a new law (the SOR) which will make it illegal for anyone who provides goods, services, facilities, premises, education or public functions to someone else, to discriminate against that person on the grounds of their sexual orientation.

Nothing to do with marriage at all I'm afraid. So you can all put that soap box away for now.

And as for NEW rights. They're just those everyone else had already really aren't they?

Gay people already have the same rights as straight folks. What they're looking for is new and exclusive rights.

All gay folks are free to marry, for example...marriage being a legal state between two persons of the opposite sex. Presently, with the exception of a few cases that are being reviewed by secular courts, neither a gay nor a straight person can marry a person of the same sex. This IS equal rights.

In those jurisdictions where "civil unions" are legal, both gays and straights can take advantage of that right.

Similarly, religious people have the same rights as do atheists. Because some choose to not exercise their right or rights, does not mean that they don't exist.

The religious/sensible people are correct and you are wrong. Homosexuals ALREADY HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS and they'e whining for SPECIAL RIGHTS and an elite minority status based upon their lewd behavior, and they're not going it get what they want like spoiled brats!

There is not one equal right that they do not have, INCLUDING MARRIAGE. If someone claims to be a necrophiliac, for example, he still has the equal right to marry according to what a marriage is, but he can't marry a corpse just because of what he calls himself.

By the same token, just because someone calls himself "gay," that does not mean that he doesn't have equal rights. He can marry any woman of his choice because that's what a marriage is - NOT between a man and a corpse a man and a dog or two men, all of which are non-marriages and all of which are equally as absurd.

I say again - there is NOT ONE equal right that they're being denied of they have every single right that everyone else has. We're NOT going to change the law form the sane to the insane - that would be a SPECIAL RIGHT!

well,

religious people follow their religions, so therefor its not mentioned that gay people are part of their religions, so therefor they don't fight for gay right!

There are much more to equal rights then gays rights, that religious people fight for! we cant deny how churches start to foundries for any problems that happens in the country!

dont worry about it...the pelosi liberal vanguard will ensure that every possible human interest cause will be looked at. the problem is, as in everything else in life there needs to be a moderation and balance which simply doesnt exist with the new administration. equal rights is an important issue but we need to temper the desire for a perfect society with the ability to pay for it and the common sense to realize that all things cant be legislated. good luck getting that past the present liberal control in congress...youll need it.

I think that depends on your concept of "equal rights for all". Does that include those who break laws? Homosexuality is still illegal in many jurisdictions. Does that include bestiality and pedophilia?
