you could fly to either Florida or California and go to the disney theme parks or Medieval Times, a dinner show with jousting, falconry, fencing, etc.
Here's the Website if you want to check it out.

Don't go anywhere that's a political hot spot (e.g. Turkey or the Red Sea area) with a baby. If you get blown up the tragedy would be even worse.
For your budget and needs try Teneriffe (Not Gran Canaria). You could get a great self-catering appartment in Los Gigantes (a resort not full of 18-30 types) + a hire car. Look up Thompson's or Thomas Cook web sites and los Pobello appartments.
Alternatively, consider the Channel Islands. I've had some great hols there with little ones.

I went to Portinatx in Ibiza last summer - we did a last minute deal and it cost £800 for 3 people. It was a fantastic holiday. We stayed at a Thompson Family Fun Hotel - can't remember the actual name. It was a 4 star half board hotel and there was tons of entertainment day and night. The beach was beautiful and the sea was shallow for a very long way out. It was an ideal place for children!

We went to the Club Grand in Side in Turkey and it was out of this world.
The complex consists of about 10 blocks with 4-6 apts per block over 2 floors. The food and drink is second to none and the entertainment is good as well, we travelled with JMC for this holiday.
On a down side if you like the hotel / apt is occupied mainly by the German but don let it put you off, there are 3 outdoor pools so there is plenty of room even for the most keen German to get The best place by the pool!!
If it does happen to be overcast then you have a basement indoor pool and a fantastic Turkish bath. The hotel claims to be 3-4 * but believe me they qualify for 5*+ in our books.
Hope this helps, only wish we were going back ourselves this year.....oh well
Good Luck
Dave

We went to Benidorm & it was fantastic. Certainly has got it's act together over the past 10 years.
It's a very family friendly place & you have to choice of staying in the Old (Poniente) town or the New (Lavente) town.
The beaches are exceptional & there's so much to do for the children.
Terra Mitica http://www.terramiticapark.com/en/index.htm?EN a theme park
Terra Natura http://www.terranatura.com/en/index2.htm
Mundomar http://www.mundomar.es/gbmundomar/sphome.asp this was brilliant. Dolphin shows & the parrot show, you'd all enoy it.
Aqualandia http://www.aqualandia.net/default2.asp a brilliant water park
I would say this was our best holiday ever. We stayed in the Rio Park Hotel in the new town (there's hundreds of hotels to choose from) & we're going again in May with Thompson half board.
Went in July 06 & the weather was SO hot. It's really cheap to eat out too.
Best of all it's a 2hrs & 15 mins flight. Alicante airport to the resort 45 mins along the motorway & not along the mountains like before

We took our children (5, 22 mths and 4 mths) to Tunisia and it was fantastic. We stayed in a 5 Star hotel that catered for children with kids clubs, had a great pool area, you can go all inclusive if you want the food was superb. The Tunisians love children and there's plenty of day trips to keep everyone happy. Would highly recommend it.

The Bon Aire motel in Cala Bona it truly is area of the Protur crew is a Thomson motel and caters very well for households with childrens and has a cool splash pool for the more youthful youngsters with slides, water fountains and a superb pirate deliver on the middle of all of it. This motel can provide all sorts of lodging from self-catering to all-inclusive. in case you've been self-catering and fancied a evening in then there's a superb little deli/take-away noted as 'Las Patatas' merely on the walkway the front to the harbour. The hotel itself is so relatives pleasant i'm particular both you and your son will extremely savour your holiday.

If you haven't been to Florida then go - there's Orlando with all the Disney complexes, Tampa with Bush Gardens (a theme park), hundreds of miles of coastline with fantastic beaches, crocodile farms, Indian Reservations, the Kennedy Space centre and millions and millions of inexpensive family orientated hotels and motels, most with swimming pools etc.

It may sound obvious, but Turkey takes some beating. The more you go, the more you get in tune with it all. Try Altinkum. Yes there is tourist hassle, but that is easily dealt with, by a polite no thank you. Give it a chance, let all it has to offer you and your family, be at your beck and call. The Turks without realising it can wear you down. But this is their way of eagerly wanting to help. Give it a go.

Tenerife, Hotel Rui Adeje. A very good location. 15 minutes from the airport, well laid 'village' of apartments and bungalows. Security very good, staff excellent, big apartments, well furnished, not too hilly. Just outside, to the west, of Las Americas if you want the brash nightlife. Good prices. 3 supermarkets nearby. 10 minute walk to sandy beach, swimming pool area massive, free sun beds, mattresses and towel every day. Didn't eat in, but it looked 'continental'. The island is still cheap for eating out and self catering, and there is an 'eat your weight' restaurant just over the motorway to the north of the hotel. Check it out on www.tripadvisor.com we loved it.
