I worked on an american version a couple days ago and what you describe sounds like... Fuel pump screen in the gas tank has become contaminated and it colapsees arounf the pump inlet. Under the back seat is a cover to access the pump best to remove the pump at less than 1/2 tank. And buy a new sending unit oring. Don't forget to replace the fuel filter on the firewall.

Hi there,
The MAFS(mass air flow sensor) which is built into the throttle body. Is a common fault with this type of car but needs to be diagnosed properly.
You need someone to reset the base idle first also resetting the self learn then roadtest the car till it cuts out, the car will start and if when they try to rev the car it struggles to rev then the MAFS is at fault. Nissan oe parts are about £476. You should be able to pick up a 2nd hand componant but how reliable will it be with NO guarantees!
Then again, what value is in your car.
Hope this helps.

Nissan's, never heard a undesirable observe approximately them? attempt looking up Nissan Almera timing chain stretch, use of a undesirable grade metallic, a favorite difficulty that affected some Micra's and MK2 until now Almera's, which expenditures on time-honored 800 - 1000 to be placed top! yet decrease back to the subject in hand, i ought to admit it ought to've been a sales tactic of the bloke, attempting to hurry you into making a rushed determination, yet low litre autos are popular, the two for learner's, and for those desirous to maintain the kilos. once you're questioning of paying a sturdy volume for it, what's the mileage? while's it due it quite is next cambelt? What're the tires like for tread? yet another sturdy factor for a 1996, what's the circumstance like below? Is the chassis sound? Nissan's ARE generally sturdy little autos that run without fault, as are Honda's. in spite of the shown fact that it quite is like something, you in many cases get an exception. And bear in mind constantly attempt and get it for a quite low value. i will in many cases shave £'s off a cheapish 2d hand automobile from a 2d hand backstreet "dealership"

I had the same problem with my Micra, it's very common actually. We did a lot of research online and the general concensus is that the throttle body is the problem. I've had mine replaced and it runs fantastically now, four or five months on. I had a re-conditioned throttle body fitted though because the new ones were much more expensive and not really worth it; it cost me £140 plus VAT.

I had the same problem...
It's the fuel pump that doesn't work properly.
Change it.
