may be several causes. You may be dehydrated from the previous day, drink a glass of water before you go to bed. You may be sleeping in an uncomfortable position and need a lower pillow as your neck is getting cricked, try another one.
Also, a tip I was given: take your pillow out of its covering and hang it in the fresh air for a few hours. It takes out stale smells and the pillow feels lovely and cool when you place your head on it in the evening.
I don't think the advice you want is how to treat the headache - it's how to prevent it in the first place. Try these first and see how you get on.
Good luck

wake up more slowly. if the sun is up, open the drapes slowly. Get out of bed and sit in a chair. Keep the lights very dim at first. Most wake-up headaches are because you're shocking your system.

The same way you can get into a hot tub slowly but if you jump in, you'll yell in pain.

You might also want to consider a glucose-containing drink (like gatorade) right when you wake up, to get food to your brain.

If you MUST use an alarm, consider a "progressive" alarm, designed to wake you slowly, instead of something that suddenly blares horrible loud noise.

I used to find I got headaches when I woke up if the room was too hot. I think it is because it dehydrates you whilst you sleep. Having some water next to the bed and lowering the tempreture on the radiator helps. Ideally, your room should be a bit chilly when you sleep although not too cold.

If you prefer the heating on them maybe opening a window a bit.

Oh, and early nights.

Try buying a new pillow.
Try not to think about all your problems right before you go to bed. Ever hear of a tension headache? Tell yourself that when I get into bed, it's time to shut off worrying. Play some soft soothing music in the background to fall asleep to.
If the headaches keep up, you should see a doctor.

Snoring and/or sleep apnea can cause headaches and stop you feeling refreshed when you wake up due to the lack of oxygen to the brain. People with sleep apnea tend to get morning hypertension (high blood pressure) which inturn can give you a headache.Have a sleep study done.

Maybe you aren't getting enough sleep. You need at least 9. I'm weird, I can't function without 11! Also, don't drink before bed. Although, alcohol will initially put you to sleep, you'll wake up thirsty and headachey.

My sleep patterns tend to run in cycles of two hours, which I think is fairly normal.

What I try to do is get an even number of hours of sleep. If I get an odd number of hours I might experience pain. At any rate, try to determine what your rhythms are and try to get in sync with them, and I think you will feel better.
