You should have not drunk it and asked for another serving in a new clean glass which you'd sniff to check it first. If the wine tasted the same, then something's wrong with the wine and you shouldn't pay for it. If not, then the first glass was contaminated by a detergent or some other chemical. In either case you shouldn't have paid for it. As for harming you, only time will tell..

It could have been a really cheap wine or there was something wrong with the cork (happens now and again). Nothing to worry about. Next time taste the wine first and in cases like this send it back and ask for another bottle.

Sounds like the wine was corked or had gone off
I know it's embarrassing but if it happens again, send it back
The restaurant only pay about £3 for a bottle of house wine and can get a replacement

The wine was off: either old, or the bottle had been opened a long time ago. Or the cork didnt shut properly. I had it once, and I almost threw up as it was extremely disgusting. A phonecall to my wine loving inlaws and the mistery was solved.
But don't worry: you wont get sick (otherwise you'd be sick already).

for human beings attempting to evolve right into a red wine drinker, I have a tendency to signify a million of two extremes. First I say Zinfandel. It has extreme spice and frequently some ambitious fruit flavors. it truly is extreme in alcohol and merely extreme, not frequently too dry. (those are guidelines - not guidelines) 2d I say Pinot Noir fairly Oregon's. they have an inclination to be basic with lush fruit flavors. None of those are going to flavor like Kool-help or Welch's yet they're strong jumping off factors for a existence-lengthy love of wine.

Well all I'll say is that people often feel uncomfortable complaining. The waiters and waiteresses are trained and paid to serve you,the paying customer.Your health comes first before money. You should have asked for a replacement. Its your right.
