Candles give light and offer a beacon to the spirit world.
Fires give even more light and create warmth. This keeps people from freezing. Not all things are mystic.
Smoke carries voices and thoughts to the spirit worlds It also keeps bugs away and leads people to the gathering cause they smell it.
Incense does have a real ritual use. Certain scents like white sage for instance remove bad energies. Bad energies come from three sources and two of those sources start in man.

These are the uses for which we (The Tianice) use these things. Why Christianity uses them is beyond me.

most ppl worships fire before there was true religion and to introduce fire to a ritual is a left over from the pagan days. Also lighting a candle ,lamp or a small fire could mean the blessings needed for enlightenment and seeing the path clearly.

It's a holdover from the pagan rituals the early Christians adapted to win over converts. The Catholics are good at perpetuating mysticism.

because the smoke rises and takes your prayers faster to whomever you worship, im native american and i have been told this a million times cause when you are a kid you always ask questions like this and that is what i was told so believe it or dont
