India attained the status of an Independent Nation on 15TH August 1947, at that time Mr.Jawaharlal Nehru was the leader of the Indian National Congress Party.
Mr. Nehru took the oath of office as the first Prime Minister of Independent India and remained India's undisputed leader until he died, of natural causes on 27Th May 1964.
