Good song. Sure would, I'm not sure if theres a God, an afterlife, or if we go to some big void. We aren't dogs or kids, they do something good for rewards. Adults shouldn't need a reward to live a good life.
Since you post a song I will to :-)
Nickelback
From underneath the trees, we watch the sky
Confusing stars for satellites
I never dreamed that you'd be mine
But here we are, we're here tonight
Singing Amen, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I'm alive
[CHORUS]
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We'd see the day when nobody died
And I'm singing
Amen I, I'm alive
Amen I, I'm alive
And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We'll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along
Singing Amen I'm alive
Singing Amen I'm alive
[CHORUS (X2)]
And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We'd see the day when nobody died
We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day when nobody died

It is a wonderful song... A song prompted by the yearnings of an average thinking human... to be free from divisions in the name of national, cultural, religious labels... to be free from hate and envy and live in harmony... sharing and caring...
There are religions like the Budhism which do not talk about God, soul and heavens... just ethical goodness... love, compassion, nonviolence, etc.. (Don't think of Sri Lankan budhists for example, who can not love their Hindu Tamils - there are fallouts in all groups of belief, after all!... A catholic follower will not like to marry a Protestant follower though both pray to the same God.. so forth).
The human laws are made for the safety and security of all, but there are law breakers... even among the law makers... that does not qualify for a scraping of the legal system... you go on refining the law to make it more workable... the law breakers find new ways to circumvent it...!
Even so with religions. Prophets come and go refining the people and illusion covers them over again... A new Prophet comes on the scene and this goes on and on... Giving a relief for the time being and adding to the followers of each Prophet.. The spirit of their message is lost and words are held fast for ignorant fights for supremacy by each, in violation of the basic tenet of Love and understanding preached by the great souls, which makes people to think of religion as a problem.. like the fate of legal system of the men..
But the poet is indeed a dreamer... The communists thought of a classless society but never achieved... The democrats dreamt of total liberty to all that never was... The religions join this grand list of dependencies of human race... for a perfection that after all lies within the heart of all... in true love that begets harmony that the Prophets preached in essence.... but lost in the din of sloth and ignorance.. wait for another redeemer!

I dont know where to start. That is a blasphemous song in biblical terms. To the world it sounds all warm and fuzzy. But there is an incidious undercurrent to that song. If you would like to understand this contact the ministry below and request the dvd called Apocolyptic Rock. The answer is too long to post here.

I love that song. It's such a beautiful idea.
Yes, I do charitable things. The only reward is how it makes me feel. I happen to like the feeling when I volunteer, give blood, or even little things like holding open doors for people and offering your arm when you see an old lady trying to cross the street on an icy day. It's that whole idea of "Paying it Forward".
No, I don't believe in "god".

Yes, and I love this song.
The satisfaction I get from helping others is the reward for me. Really. I will die happily knowing I have done what I believed in, which is helping humanity (without any belief in after-life). This is the essence of atheism.

Yes. There may very well be no heaven. I am okay with that. It doesn't make me want to exploit or take advantage of people.
Certain brain chemicals are released when we do good things depending on how we have been conditioned as children. Some people get high off of doing "good" things for others while other people get high off of doing "bad" things to others.

Love John Lennon. this is my fave sone ever. Curse the fuckwit Christian who assassinated him.
The reward for doing good is a clear conscience. The Christians believe that a "one world govt of Peace" would be a sign of the devil.
Christians are, in my opinion, dangerous people.

You mean do something not out of greed { go to heaven or fear, go to hell}? Of course I would. To expect something in return is a believer isn't it? I believe in nothing, everything is sacred.

You will find in Romans that your best 'works' will fall short in Gods eyes.
Doing good works will not get you to heaven. Getting into heaven is much easier... All you need do is believe in JC.
