Law enforcement won't tell who reported it. they just tell them, 'we have gotten a complaint'..they will give a warning, and tell them that they will check back by, to make sure the dogs are quieter.

Don't give the dogs any food without permission of the owners first! The dogs could be on a diet because of a health problem that you don't know about or the dogs could be allergic to whatever you give them and it would not stop the barking but could make the dogs bark more because they will see their barking as a way to get more food. I suggest that you go over and talk to the owners as it may be that they are used to the barking and that they are unaware of how annoying it is or they could be aware of it but don't know how to stop the barking in which case you could help them find a way to stop the dogs.
If the dogs are fighting, call animal control. they won't say who told them and it would help the dogs. Also calling the police is not such a good idea as there are better council services such as Animal control and if the dogs are barking late at night and keeping you awake you could call noise control. If you can see signs of the dogs being mistreated (no water, wounds etc) you could call the SPCA who will investigate, offer a warning and if nothing is done about it, remove the dogs from the owners possession.

I live in a neighborhood with dogs (i even have a few) and i've noticed that mostly, one or two dogs start the barking, and the other ones just follow, if you can figure out which dog is being the leader of this annoying choir, then you could confront those people, and the cops probably won't do much of nothing, animal control would be the people to call, but if your city is anything like mine, animal control won't be open until the morning. But like i said, find out who is starting the racket, and get that one to shutup, and the rest will probably just follow suit.

I own a business that is open 24 hours a day and I am there often late at night. My beagle use to wake my neighbors by barking late at night when he was bored. My neighbors called animal patrol who issued me a ticket for a nuisance dog.

I wish they would have told me, other then taking the actions of animal control. Since I have gotten a shock collar. My dog learned that it will shock him and stopped barking. (the shock is not painful or cruel it is only startling) Today I can put on the collar without the battery and he stays quiet. I recommend contacting your neighbor by perhaps leaving a note on the door to let them know that the dog is waking you late at night. If that does not work call your local animal patrol.

Remember to do what you would want them to do if this situation was reversed.

Good Luck.

The dogs don't bark when they are not fed, they are probably speaking (saying bad things, most likely) to each other. The owners should put them inside or keep them busy. I don't know if the cops will say who caalled them, but it's not hard to figure out: the one who has got no barking dog. Plus teh dogs may get into trouble, and they shouldn't, because it's the owners' fault. Why don't you ask the neighbours politely to put their dogs inside? And if things get rough you can then mention that it is illegal to disturb and they will figure you could call the police on them.

The cops won't do anything. Well at least they wouldn't where I live. They told me to address the dog owners on my own and try to work it out. I was too chicken - so I wrote an anonymous letter telling them how rude and inconsiderate it was - but they did nothing. I don't live there anymore - but I think if I did - I'd rally the neighborhood together to get them to stop.

Also - a friend of mine had a barking dog on a patio below her apartment. It belonged to a cop - so what could she do? She used to throw down a half a slice of bread filled with a BUNCH of peanut butter - rolled into a ball. The dog would eat it - and then he'd lick the inside of his mouth with his tongue (because of the peanut butter) - and sometimes - while he was doing that - she could get to sleep.

Good luck!

Do this, you need to start building a case. Get a camcorder that has the date and time stamp,, and record every night when they bark for about a half hour. Just tape it for like a total of 6 hours. Next, call the local principality of go to a police station and ask them what you need to do to get a letter sent to them. With that tape, they cannot deny it, or they to minimize it. Bloody idiots just have no respect these days. just idiots. Let the city handle them.

Hi my neighbour up the back is a royal pain in the ***, she reckons her dog doesn't bark but as soon as they leave it starts. You could ring the council and they will send her a letter of warning, if nothing is done they will send her another warning, eventually they may have to give up their dog. It's drastic but if they ignore the letter they can cop a hefty fine. If you ring the council you can ask them to keep you anonymous but i have heard that they can pay to find out who dobbed them in, don't know how true that bit is though. hope this helps

What I feel is you should approach the animal welfare association or PETA. They can help you with this. If your neighbour does not feed the dogs properly its a crime, which mounts to heavy fine and imprisonment.

The police can also help but then the problem ur identity will be there.

So think about the options and I hope something good will work out for you soon..

Good Luck!!

okay..i know both sides of this story...my neighbours dog barks the street down...but apparently mine do the same when I'm not home...tell your neighbours nicely,,they may not be aware...I got my dog a barking collar..it is like a mini electric shock every time she barks...she still barks if some one is passing, but stops soon after...its not consistant...if your neighbours know they may be able to do something to assist the problem...ultimately , dogs bark..that's what they do and if it was at someone breaking into your house, I'm sure you would be grateful...

I wouldn't move, as some are saying. However, I had that experience once, but I moved out of the place I was renting. I'm assuming that they own the houses? Then you can't go to the landlord, but you can try the Home Owner's Association.
