Surely there should be some real-world data somewhere, suggesting that they typically have a longer life-expectancy than the rest of us?
I wonder if the NHS has a nice spread-sheet, listing which are the 'healthiest' religions out there....
Anybody know?

Interesting query. As 1 of Jehovah's Witnesses I am often thankful that on top of all the other daily things to worry about I do not need to worry about STDs, Track Marks, Paternity tests, etcetera. However I do have several health problems. Birth defects and such. My brothers were born rather healthy, I was not. Nothing serious just annoyances. Because, in part, of my problems many do not accept me. I know that because I strive to follow the Bible I am accepted by my brothers and sisters at the Hall. It would not matter if I were Brad Pitt or Screech from SBTB. Because of this fact of acceptance whether poor or rich, sick or healthy, and the fact that each of us can turn away from bad courses and try to follow the Bible there are those of us who are sick. Some who join have lived lives that involved Drugs, Drunkenness and Debauchery. So I doubt there is a large difference in the number of infirmed that are or aren't Witnesses. I do know that we are safer when we follow the Bible in that as I said no worries of getting a bad Heroin needle. It would be interesting to see how the numbers stacked up. I would especially be interested in those who were born to and stuck with their chosen faith through their lifetime as they would be constantly living under these standards.
Sorry I am sooooooooo long winded.
BTW We do not always bottle up our feelings and PRETEND we love everyone. We are human. There are MANY types of love. I of course have, at least try to have, a basic love of all living things. This does not mean I like everyone.

There are far more factors affecting the overall life span than just the over use of alcohol or the use of illegal drugs. Witnesses have all the same health problems as everyone else, though there does seems to be lower levels of Alzheimer Disease, but that is likely because they are a lot more active as regards studying, preaching, and teaching.

I agree with Dances with. In addition, when it comes down to it, that certain group may not show up in such information. Some groups prefer not to say too much, unless spreading their brand of...beliefs.

Please don't expect to follow any religion completely and fully as it is mentioned in the holy book. If any one does it, he will be free from sins..If one is free from sins, he will be equivalent to a saint! Just check how many saints we create every year in our globe????

Given that they also tend to sublimate their feelings and pretend that they "love" everybody, I'm surprised they live past the age of 30.
