how do you tell someone they need God in his/her life when he/she is doing just fine?

the answer is you are not doing fine without the Lord Jesus Christ. By our own will we can not bring us unto salvation. We are born unto evil, and every man cannot be saved unless you repent, and Cry out for forgiveness to the Son of God, whom took away the sins of those whom he called out from this vile world. You can lead a good life, obey the laws of man, be sociable make many friends, be respected, gain wealth and power, but in the end if you do not have Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost, you have gained nothing. Matthew 16:26
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Even if they think they are doing just fine without God, there will come a time in everyone's life when they will need him. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a crisis to show them that.
My advice to you would be to tell them that when they need God, all they have to do is ask and he will be there for them. Then pray to God that he will send them a great calamity. I would recommend the death of a parent, or a child if they have one. Of course you must leave God to decide in his infinite wisdom, exactly what would cause them the greatest pain, but it doesn't hurt to make a suggestion.

...1. Pray and ask God to give you chances to witness. this is the most important thing to do, and keep doing.

when a person thinks he is just fine by now, try to dig in to his past maybe there was something that was unresolved, like an issue that for now it is being hidden but for some time in the future if that issue is not resolved it will surface again. then you could say he needs God to resolve the issue to he can be a better person.

if still he was fine with his past (which i doubt) and by now. i suggest just keep him in your prayers, for someday he might encounter a difficulty in life, request to God that you will be there to enlighten that person. :)
