I just recently bought a 2005 Nissan sentra and they did not give me a copy of my warranty. Do I need some sort of proof for the factory warranty to be valid? What should I do I know it is still under warranty has low miles and is only an 05 with 9,500 miles please help. Do I need some sort of papers? I called the dealership today and they kept on putting me on hold and I did not accomplish anything.

There are two different types of warranty, a manufacturer warranty and a dealer warranty. When your Sentra was new, it had a 3 year, 36000 mile warranty from the manufacturer. When you bought it used, you still have whatever is left of the 3 years and/or 36000 miles. A manufacturer warranty usually looks like a pamphlet, and comes with the owners manual. If your Sentra still has the owner's manual, look to see if the warranty is in it.

A dealer warranty is a whole other ballgame. When you bought your car, did the dealer sell you an extended warranty or service contract? This probably would have looked like a bank contract with multiple carbon copies. If you did buy one, the dealer is required to keep a copy on file. Some dealerships can be pretty sloppy with their filing, so don't expect to get a copy right away.

The standard warranty for all 2005 Nissans can be downloaded from the Nissan website. Here's the link:

I hope this helped. Good luck!

factory warranties are transferable, I believe Nissan carries 3 yrs or 36,000 miles which ever comes first. which means that anything that goes wrong with the car in that time period is covered by the warranty and gets fixed for free. Unless if the owner of the vehiclehas negllected regular maintenance it could void the warranty and you get stuck with the bill.
Also check with your bank/credit Union for extended warranty. some financial institutions carry these which cover almost everything and you only pay a small deductible. if you decide to get one of this is best if you do it right before the factory one runs out. Since it's more expensive if the car has more miles than used to according to the national quota 12000 miles per year (yeah right)

When you buy a used car, there is no paperwork for you to sign regarding the warranty. The car is under original factory warranty, you can check by calling a nissan service dept, they can run your vin and determine if the vehicle is under an active warranty.

The original manufacturer warranty is in the packet of books that is probably still in your glovebox.
If you call the dealership, ask to leave a message for your salesperson, BEFORE you are put on hold (your salesperson may be with another customer, or out of the building, when you've called) leave a name & number.

the papers or contract you signed with the total cost and apr% on it should also have the warranty if any on it...... you should never sign anything unless you read it....

They should send something in the mail. Call back if that doesn't get you anywhere. Go up there.
