i hate to tell u this but Islam isn't the most violent religion in history Christianity is and I'm a Christian saying this lets take a look shall we

1)the Spanish Inquisition 31,912 people dead

2)the crusades 18 all together. we don't know the exact death toll. but we do know the pope made a decree that any Christian that killed a Muslim was not murdering. and we know that it was a common practice for the Christian crusaders to kill the entire city when it fell that included women children Muslim,Christian, and Jews in fact when Jerusalem fell one curseder wrote that the street were so full of blood that it came up past his feet

3) the Holocaust now before u say Hitler wasn't Christian the man was catholic. he was a catholic alter boy growing up. so he was raised to believe that the Jews and others were evil. don't u find it odd that every person that was thrown into the consternation camps Gypsies, Jews, mental patients Protestants were the same kind of people on trial during the Spanish Inquisition ? 6 mil there and that's just the Jews

now before u calling the a terrorist Muslim think of this we as Christians have our own terrorist groups called the KKK and the Nazi skin heads that also bomb places the KKK have been known to bomb black churches along with abortion clinics. and the skin heads well does the name Tim mcvey ring a bell? but most Christan's will say well they aren't Christian so why don't the Muslims get the same way out about their terrorist ?

Sammer (Jim W) sorry but your lack of history i find funny. the Spanish Inquisition was started because the queen of Spain Isabella asked the pope if they could start seizing Jewish lands and riches and other enemy's of the church because they were broke and he sent her his top people to carry it out nothing happened back then without the popes blessing lol

The Spanish Inquisition was in the 12th Century. While I'm not Christian, I think we're going to have to give Christians a pass on this one now that we're in the 21st Century.

People can debate which religion is the most violent in history until we're all blue in the face. The fact of the mater is, there is a large and growing segment of the Muslim community that is violent and, as such, it can easily be said that Muslims are the most violent religion of our time.

Another strong difference you'll find is in the rest of the non-violent Muslims when you compare them to Christians. When the KKK starts lighting up a cross, the people speaking out against them are Christians. There is a disturbing lack of outrage amongst the world's Muslims.

Millions of Catholics were killed in the Holocaust, too, ignoramus, and the Vatican and the Nazis were enemies.

Dude, you're knowledge of history is a bit off.

1) The Spanish Inquisiton never killed anybody. It was the attempt by the Pope to get the King of SPain under control because he was massacring anybody he thought wasn't Catholic, including loads of Catholics and even clergy. The Inquisition protected Catholics from him being over zealous, but it had to determine if a person was a true Catholic. If it was demonstrated that a person was a heretic, they had the option to repent and be under the protection of the CHurch. If they didn't they were turned over to the SPanish authorities who would kill them.

Why would they kill them? Because Spain had been invaded and occupied by the Muslim Moors for over a hundred years, and the King of SPain had just battled it back for the SPanish. He considered anyone not Christian a possible collaborator with the Moors, so he expelled the Jews and went hunting for collaborators.

2) THe Crusades took place after the Muslim invasion of non-Spanish Europe had been defeated. Before the defeat Muslim troops had occupied half of France, and would continue to occupy up into Hungary in the East until much later. Muslims still own parts of the Balcans all the way up into Russia. Think Chechnia.

3) Hitler says in Mein Kamp that he rejects Christianity and Christian morality as a Jewish invention concocted to make the strong respect the weak.

Now compare that to Islam which started out with one city Medina. From there it spread largely by force. Mecca was taken by force. Then the rest of Arabia through acombination of force and conversion - all the way across N. Africa and West to Iran, Western China and India, up into Europe all the way to France in the West and Russia in the East.

Islam has a warrior tradition. We are proud of it. We view its early victories as miracles ment to spread the truth. Hamdoo Allah!

EDIT. Dude, you're retarded. There were no Jews in SPain when the Inquisition started. They had been expelled the year before. The only ones who remained were ones who had converted rather than leave. That makes them Catholic, not Jews.

You should sit down and seriously think about what you are saying before you write dribble like that. Just because you have fancy robes on, and a lot of people follow you, doesn't make you a true church. Just because someone went to a church and even went through a catechism, doesn't make you a Christian. If you want to know what a true Christian is, read the Bible.

Christ said love your enemies, do good to those who persecute you. You don't have a beef with the true church and those in it, you have a legitimate problem with the false church and it's followers.

Christ even said that there will be many that will do things "in my name" that are not of the body of Christ, so be careful.

Nowhere does Christ say murder people, or persecute people for their beliefs or beat your wife if she disobeys you.

But that is commanded in the quran.

One of the pillars of faith in Islam is Jihad, holy war. But the true understanding of Jihad is that of defending the faith from infidels who come up "against" it. In the history of Islam, the faith was propagated by war, so it is fair to say that the religion was formed out of war not peace. The first act of major war was when Muhammad rode with his followers into Mecca from Medina to overthow the city because Allah told him to make Mecca the center of Islam. The radicals turn Jihad to mean that anyone, even their own people, who look at them wrong are deserving of a pipe bomb. Christianity's past has a lot of war and stupidity in it. They went to war for their own selfish purposes, not for the purposes of the other. Both have moved off the page. So I would have to agree that both are naturally peaceful with a "Whoop ***" clause in their doctrine, ready to be pulled if needed.

Here's a hint: Not everyone who calls them self a Christian actually is a Christian. Your going to have to tell me how many people Jesus killed. or how many people Jesus told his followers to kill. Please tell the chapter and verse.

Jesus says this: "Many will say to me on that day,'Didn't we prophesy in your name, didn't we cast out demons in your name, didn't we do many wondrous works in your name?' and I will say ' Depart from me. I never knew you. You who work iniquity.'"

You see it is not our testimony that we know Jesus that saves us. It's what Jesus says about us that saves us. It's like you and I could walk up to the White House and say "let me in. I know George Bush." And guess what? We probably wouldn't get in. But if George Bush opens the White House doors and says, "Let these guys in for I know them.", then we would be welcome into the White House with open arms. Do you see the difference?

Now what do you think? Don't say it out loud so your not passing judgment. But seriously ponder if Jesus knows Hitler and the KKK and Nazi skin heads as friends. Put it another way. If you truly are a Christian, would you like your house in Heaven next to Adolf Hitler's. Do you think that would feel safe to you? Remember this is for eternity. So what do you think? Time to use your reasoning skills.

Mmmm...none of this is right and I won't excuse it. I have nothing but sympathy for the people of New York, unnecessarily and unjustifiably brutalized and killed by extremists guilty of hate. I may criticize American foreign policy but I would never wish such a despicable and cruel act upon people, especially civilians who are not responsible. Soldiers have rights, too. Islamic extremism is half the problem here. The other half has to do with other factors but don't relate to the people of New York.

I applaud truth where ever it comes from. Let you and I proffer more awakening.
Constantinople was the death of some 600,000 "pagan" peoples.
The Popes ordered anyone that did not follow the "new religion" Be slain and 28,000 civilizations fell beneath Roman swords.
Rome started controlling beliefs before Christianity and had no problem ushering in it's "New Religion"
Christianity so feared the Elden teachings it Killed anyone believing in them. It was an easy task to kill off Sainic and Tianic and Druidic masses because most of them would not harm. Over two million people died during the year 548 because they were easily killed.
Killing Muslims was a pastime for Catholic and Christian soldiers as was killing Jews.
To be fair.
Islam did it's level best to destroy the Elden peoples too. The followers of the way were seen as Infidel and were sword fodder and cannon fodder. Herds of Kurds and others have been hunted by Islam.

Muslims could put an end to the terrorists of Islam. They could stop the insurgencies and violence in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the middle east. They could. Almost all of the countries in the middle east have armed civilians.
The story of Thagre comes to mind.
He lifted his axe high above his head as he settled his eyes on the king, laying blooded and in fear on the stone floor of the keep.
"Have I now you and your begging to bleet in my ears" Thagre said as the king wretched yet again and vomited. " Know I you and your way. Know I now that you are but a coward and a child in soul. Know I now that as coward you were given crown and as coward you lose your crown. Kiss ye mine blooded boot and beg ye for life" The king did this and looked at Thagre with tear filled eyes and urine filled trousers. "Unlike you who would stab the
back of the people, placing your want over theirs and feeding thine own fatted belly with the sweat and sorrows of your people.
Unlike you I am of the people, of your people and of mine."
The king again kissed Thagre's boot and begged from the Warrior mercy.
"Unlike you, I Thagre ap Odn will save my people and carry their trust in my heart"
With that the axe was swung and the spine of the spineless king split in twain.
We as a people place cowards and creeps in places where they can do harm. We trust them to protect us and keep us safe. As long as the Muslim allows his people to be terrorists, they will be.
The same goes for Christians.

You have the gist of it. We are traditional Bigots. Always blame the others. We ARE ALWAYS RIGHT. They Burned Alexandria in the 4th century, the cultural center of the world then. The destroyed the Library and blamed the Muslims. We As Christians have been blaming Muslims by tradition. Tolerance does not exist in Christian Dogma. We persecute our own. A lot of the answers you got are by people who are totally ignorant of HISTORY. OUR FAITH IS THE TRUE ONE EVERYBODY ELSE IS DOOMED TO HELL FIRE AND WORSE. (INCLUDING UNBAPTIZED CHILDREN. So much for love thy neighbor and turnng the other cheek. The history of Christianity is one of VIOLENCE, IGNORANCE, INTOLERANCE, BIGOTRY, DARK AGES.
