i've been off and on with a guy for three years now, i don't LOVE him and he doesn't love me but we both mutually care about eachother and we have a nice thing going on. we enjoy eachothers company and we go out together pretty often and he treats me well, and we have fun. but he won't call me his GIRLFRIEND, we baisically are dating. he takes me out he pays for me he treats me like a lady and some nights i go home with him. we don't plan to get married or have a SERIOUS relationship, i just feel disrespected that he won't call me his girlfriend. i know he's been VERY hurt in the past and is sensitive about having a "girl friend" but it's a title that really effects my dignity. what should i do?

i do see other people, i'm looking out for marriage material, but in the mean time, while we're dating i'd feel better if he would just call me a girl friend out of respect. it's the only part of our situation that i'm unhappy with.

i know people that act married, live together, have kids, but aren't married because they don't wanna have the paperwork and legal stuff and etc. so it's just the title that's missing, but the feelings are there.
so maybe he just doesn't want the title. it's obvoius you are boyfriend and girlfriend, but if the title really bothers you that much......well punch him in the nose until he says you are.

You should figure out if you're worried more about your dignity, or if it's that you realize he's not feeling it the way you are. He doesn't call you his girlfriend because he wants to set a clear boundary about where you stand with him. No matter how nice he is, or how much time and money he spends on you, he doesn't see you as a woman he'd present to his friends, family, and collages as a girlfriend.

You can do this for years, but the day he finally introduces someone to his girlfriend, it won't be you. Start dating other people.

He's realistic and you are 'NOT'!!
No guy will call a girl his 'girlfriend' when 'love isn't part of the equation.
He would have to be IN love with you to call you 'girlfriend'.
You've openly admitted neither of you loves the other, so why on earth would you expect (or even consider) him as a boyfriend.
Do you tell people he's your boyfriend? If you do you're lying!
He's not your boyfriend!
He is however 'A' boy friend..Get it!
Leave the poor guy alone!!

He's being a nice, friendly guy and he's enjoying your company, but he's just not into you that way.

I suggest you stop focusing your attention on him if you're looking for more.

Just think of all the guys that would be into you and vice versa.
If he's really just your friend, he will still be your friend even after you find a boyfriend. So your not losing anything, but will be gaining more.

Do you call him your boyfriend?

*sighs* I think you're just being "used", until his "one and only" makes an entrance.

You already know that this relationship isn't going to go anywhere else, why worry about it? Keep your options open. That's obviously what he's doing. Both of you are "having your cake, and eating it too", by the sounds of it. Just enjoy it! :-)

If it's good leave it alone! That's all that really matters isn't it? Changing stuff and labeling each other might cause friction. You understand each other the rest of the world needs to worry about there own relationships.
BE HAPPY & ENJOY!!!!!

Heres a little tip--- guys do NOT like to call a girl their girlfriend unless its SERIOUS and by the looks of things it aint-- seeing as you don't really see this going anywhere and you don't love him. So relax-- you are not his girlfriend just as he is not your boyfriend
