I recently read the following. Has anyone heard about it? Can you elaborate?

"Can you please elaborate on the following.... how do you know what is enough and when is enough?

On the average, a person should drink eight 8-ounce glasses every day. That's about 2 quarts. However, the overweight person needs one additional glass for every 25 pounds of excess weight. The amount you drink also should be increased if you exercise briskly or if the weather is hot and dry. Water should preferably be cold - it's absorbed into the system more quickly than warm water. And some evidence suggests that drinking cold water can actually help burn calories. When the body gets the water it needs to function optimally, its fluids are perfectly balanced. Once this happens you have reached the "breakthrough point". What does this mean?

Endocrine-gland function improves.

Fluid retention is alleviated as stored water is lost.

More fat is used as fuel because the liver is free to metabolize stored fat.

Natural thirst returns.

There is loss of hunger almost overnight.

If you stop drinking enough water, your body fluids will be thrown out of balance again, and you may experience fluid retention, unexplained weight gain and loss of thirst. To remedy the situation you'll have to go back and force another "breakthrough"."

This isn't a "new" theory. Your body needs a certain amount of fluid to function properly. The more water you drink the better your body works. The flip side of that though, is if you drink too much water you risk hurting your body.

I suggest that you drink 8 8oz glasses of water every day. It's easier than you think to do. 1 glass of water before each meal. There's three glasses right there.1 glass of water between each meal with your snacks, there's at least 2 more glasses of water. 1 glass of water before bed. Already you have drunk 6 glasses of water. If you should start to feel hungry, have another glass of water. The brain cannot tell the difference between hunger and thirst, so most of the time you think you are hungry, you are really thirsty.

Bet that just gave you the last two glasses to make it to 8!

If you are excercising you should have another glass of water, as well as when it is hot and dry out.

The proper balance of water intake actually can help you burn excess calories, and help you lose weight. The reason for that is that it helps speed up your metabolism, which is what burns the calories.

A lot of people have a hard time drinking plain tap/bottled water. This is why some of the companies have created flavoured water. You need to becareful of which ones you buy though, as some of them have sugars in them.

Basically, look at the nutritional label on a bottle of plain water, grab a bottle of flavoured water and compare the labels. The flavoured water that has the closest numbers to plain water is the one you should be buying.

Agree with the above, just one thing nothing can happen overnight..you should drink a lot till you come to that point. Also water can not do anything unless you have the right diet! You will have to cut down the meat, dairy and all junk and have clean and healthy diet!

I don't know about the 'breakthrough' phenonmenon, but drinking water helps weight loss. Nearly every chemical reaction that takes place in burning fat or carbohydrates involves adding water--so make sure you have plenty for that and everything else your body needs it for.
