There are several reasons. Some cats will since that there is something wrong with the kittens and they will kill them. More times it is strictly unknown. I am assuming that this is your cat. If you are trying to breed her then make sure that she as a quite place to give birth where no one will disturb her. They like closets. Put a bed (perferably cardboard where mom can jump in and out and the kittens can not), water, food (feed kitten until done nursing), and litter box some where else close. when she has the litter do not disturb her just monitor. Make sure kittens are ok. Hope this helps

the reason why the mum did this is because she maybe felt threatened and feared the safety for her kittens. It's can be quite common especially in first litters. My friend has an f2 bengal and she's always killing her kittens even if she's in a room on her own with no-one disturbing her.If it keeps happening, then it's maybe advisable to get the mum spayed as she's obviously not comfortable with the situation.

I think there might be something wrong with the kittens so the mother felt that it would be better to kill them so they wont be a burden. I also HEARD that if you dont feed the cat enough, it will kill and eat its kittens... Brrr

I've never heard of that before. If the mother kills the kittens, I would suspect that she is under some sort of stress, and instinctively kills them so that they don't slow her down if she needs to escape whatever is stressing her.

I'm not sure they do. One of my husband's cats got quite upset when he stopped stroking her as she was giving birth. She didn't kill her kittens.
