I need a program/software to copy/save dvds to my computer. also it needs to be free.
ex. i have devils rejects and i want to make a back up disc so my when my family breaks it i don't have to worry about it cuz they would break the back up disc instead of the original.

dvd shrink.
Store bought dvds are 9 gigs. Blank dvd-rs are only 4 gigs, so you'll need to shrink them to burn copies anyway. get DVD-shrink here:

then use it to open devils rejects, and then choose backup...it will encode for about an hour or two, and then it will burn...so long as you have dvd-r's and a burner. If you have a dual layer burner and dual layer dvd-r's, you go into the options to save the file bigger than 4 gigs

Here are the tools I use to copy DVDS for my own personal back ups. I know some folks do not trust some sites due to all the junk spyware out there and virus stuff. But look at my answer history, you will see that I can be trusted. D/load the free protection I recomend. I trust the programs I mention below and use them. I also believe in try before you buy.

http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html......... - DVD Shrink Freeware will copy most DVDs but there are some it will not copy.

http://www.slysoft.com/?aid=50549.......... - AnyDVD and CloneDVD
These 2 programs are great, 21 day free trial, and I have them both. AnyDVD and CloneDVD they will take off encryption and protection.
Just bought An American Haunting and DVD Shrink would not copy it, but these 2 programs no problem. Have not had any movie yet they could not copy.

Use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter (both are free, and you do need both). Use this guide to help you through the program:

I - Ripping with DVD Shrink
. Open DVD Shrink [Screenshot]
. Click "Open Disk" [Screenshot]
. Select your DVD-ROM/Burner where your movie is located, this will load the movie and have DVD Shrink take a couple minutes to analyze. [Screenshot]
. Under "Full Disk Backup" select "Menu", then under "Video"'s drop down menu, selecet "Custom Ratio" [Screenshot]
. Move the slider all the way to the left to shrink it. [Screenshot]
. Select the "Extras" and do the same thing as step 4 & 5, do this for ever single "Extras" [Screenshot]
. If there are any "Unreferenced Material", do the same thing as step 4 & 5 [Screenshot]
. Click "Full Disc" square button, at the "Back Up" DVD Screen, select "ISO Image", the "select target image file" is the location and the iso name. Click OK.[Screenshot]
. "Encoding" will start, which typically can take up considerable time, depending on your computer hardware. [Screenshot]
. "Back Up Complete" when its done creating the ISO, reminding of you where the location of the ISO file is located. [Screenshot]
II - Burning the ISO with DVD Decrypter
. Start DVD Decrypter and let it load
. Select Mode > ISO > Write [Screenshot]
. Select your DVD Burner in the "Destination" [Screenshot]
. Under "Source", select the ISO file created by DVD Shrink in step I [Screenshot]
. Click on the big Write Button that has the picture of the "hard drive, green arrow, and dvd" under the "Destination" box [Screenshot]
. This will start the burning [Screenshot]
. That's it!
...It really works. Good Luck!!!!
