As I recall, the Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran issued an order for every muslim to kill Salman Rushdie on sight. If you are a muslim, will you carry out this order when you see him?

Salman Rushdie is the author of a book called "Satanic Verses" in which he claimed that the Quran was a compilation of satanic verses mixed in with some of God's words.
I've often compared it as Islam's version of the Da Vinci Code. But of course, to my knowledge, the pope never ordered Dan Brown to be killed.

If Theo van Gogh was any example, I would say yes, they're still gunning for him.
Is that surprising? Over a half dozen violent muslim conflicts in the world right now.

The order was rescinded some time ago. It may have been replaced with another punishment order like imprisonment or hail marys. Hence Mr Rushdie is no longer in hiding. I would think he would still have some form of protection, though, in case of freelance executioners. Sorry I can't give you the reference but it was in the media.

Ragdefend, nowadays, the muslims have learnt that its better to keep quiet about islamic shames then to start a fatwah against these infidels.
The MORE you start fatwahs, the MORE people will ask questions. WHY? What did he teach? OH! Satanic verses! I didn't know our great founder muhammad SPOKE for the DEVIL!
Goodness, its a matter of acknowledging your own faults even before you capture the guy. That's why you see them keeping quiet these days.
Remember, perfect knowledge & civilisation KILLS ISLAM.

Muslims do not have to follow Khomeini, I think it was stupid though. Khomeini should have just let that dog bark. There's a french saying,'les chiens aboient et la caravane passe.' He should have let Rushdie tell his lies.

I don't know why. All he was doing was talking about what is in thier book. You know, about where muhammad is taken over by satan and worships the pagan gods (He actually did this). Yeah, really inspired. Just another moon worshiper that got lucky enough to find some air headed nomads to follow him around and put people to the sword unless they "submitted" to HIM. (not god)

I don't care about the fatwa but i love my prophet and can't tolerate his insult in the way suleman rushdi did, so being angry with that all, i would definitely go for that, if i get to see him anywhere ,
