I really want to let this guy go and he knows it. But he still comes over the house and calls on occasions. We had a friendship for 8 years now but we got intimate and sex can confuse everything. He wants to maintain a friendship but I have to let him go...........But I'm not sure he is in for it

In his eyes a relationship isn't over until both people give up, and he hasn't given up yet. In a way he's right. There's always that tiny chance that you might reconsider, no matter how unlikely.

On the other hand, if you bluntly ignore him and avoid him as much as you can, he will give up sooner or later.

What I would do is tell him straight up that if he cares about you, he'll let you go and let you move on with your life. It's not easy on you either, not just him. He needs to understand this. Tell him that if and when you feel that you can resume the friendship, you will. But at this point it's too painful and confusing to see him like this. If he doesn't get the point, then just ignore him as much as you can and jump into the social and dating life as much as possible, so you can start meeting new people and he realizes that you moved on, so there's nothing for him there.

Sounds like down deep u really don't want to let him go,
or he would be gone by now. U can't be on the fence with him
and this includes no more booty calls either. Guys really do get the message, but u must be sending mixed signals or he
wouldn't be coming around. Sit him down and explain this
isn't working any more and I really can;t be friends with u
any more as there is too much history and I need to move on!

Hey its yours actions that counts. One has to speak soon. And looks like you. So it's better to be honest and true if you care about him. So tell him that you have to move on and you made your decisions.
