For years I felt slightly guilty at finding the Bible boring and irrelevent to modern life. But something kept me asking questions and seeking answers. I read a few modern-day guides to the bible and took the advice to pray before reading anything in it, and generally opening my mind and heart to receive whatever it had to offer. Now I can see that it holds so much wisdom which is, in fact, very relevant to our day. I'd advise a Bible study class, or read up on how to understand the messages within. Be careful though - there are those who interpret the messages as wholly literal (all fire and brimstone etc) and seem to scare people away from God's word rather than encourage them! In my opinion Philip Yancey is a great writer and his books have helped me enormously to understand the Christian faith and the meanings in the Bible.

Some parts are kind of boring. But even those parts have stuff to tell you.Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy repeat themselves and much detail alot. But alot of the other books are interesting. All of them are God-breathed and are useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.2 Timothy 3:15-17
If you will not read a book of the Bible at this point, then leave it and read one of the other books. There is so much to read, and much is action-filled and interesting. I love the gospels and the letters. OK, most of it is interesting to me ( i was just going to keep adding sections, but by then, I would have mentioned all of it). Now, if i woud just go in and read IT, instead of sitting in here talking with y'all.

If you were a true, born again Christian, you would not see the bible as boring. The bible is inspiring, not to mention holy and 100% truth and we Christians can rely and depend on it for guidance - we can't go wrong where the bible is concerned - :D Sorry you find it boring, but perhaps it's because you aren't truly saved by God's grace, not knowing Christ as your Savior. Anyone can say they're 'Christian' - it's easy to say it, but to live as one is another story. I'm not judging you or anything - just that I don't see how any true, born again Christian would find the bible boring or uninspiring. Without the Holy Spirit giving you wisdom and understanding of the bible, you will naturally not like or appreciate it and find it boring.
2 Corinthians 4:3, 4 - But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 - In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

If you don't have a King James bible then I suggest you find one. Go somewhere were you feel like you won't be disturbed and begin to read the Psalms out loud. It doesn't matter where you start, but don't stop until you Wake Up.

I'm sorry, I don't wanna offend anyone, but I think the bible is pretty much full of bs. Maybe cuz I'm not religious, but I can't get my self to believe the stuff that's in there.

The Bible is the word of God. Then look at John 1. Jesus and the Word are One. You cant live with one and not the other.

I like the "Songs of Solomon". Otherwise, it's not something I have read since I recovered from a bad case of Catholicism.
It was rough, but I think I am OK now.
