Oh dear here is another princess expecting her man to be the prince of her dreams. You know we humans are never satisfied with what we have. Dream of a beggar is to get food. dream of a middle class man is to become a millionare. and that of a millionare...to become a billionare. Writing a classy love letter requires good poetic skills as far as i think. Not every man is born with all the skills a human could possibly have. You said that he loves you. you know hes expressing it to you. I wont say what you are asking for is too much...love is never too much. but dont be disappointed that he is not what you want him to be. He is what he is. And you should love him for whom he is; not expect him to change the way you want.

Most guys HATE writing letters, and that goes double for love letters. For most guys it's too mushy feely. If he is really good with words and he's written poems before, then your request would be reasonable. Your average guy isn't good at this sort of thing, doesn't like it, and in your case, knows that whatever he scribbles will be compared to freakin' Shakespear! Like he's going to want to embarass himself like that. You said he loves you and it shows, that's something to be thankful for. If you want something extra romantic, just mention to him casually that you love it when he surprises you with some small romantic gesture. Let him pick what it is though, if letters aren't his thing, why would you want a forced (or most likely copied from some Hallmark card) poem?
Tell him what you want, but don't be so restrictive, let him express it in his own way.

Here is a thing about guys and relationships....If you tell us do to something (i.e. write you a letter) we are not going to want to do it at all. This is not because we don't like the idea of doing something you will like - it is because we do not want you to think we are doing it just because you asked us to. Even though I'm sure you would be as happy as a clam if we did, it still feels superficial to us. Try giving hints that aren't directed specifically at him. If you get a letter from a friend, mention that you were excited to get it, enjoyed reading it, etc. - but don't go to the point of saying "you should write me a letter" or worse yet "how come you never write me letters".
If you drop very generic hints, you may see some results.

Practical feeling and being in love is more important than Shakespeare letter writting.

People have different strengths and maybe your boyfriend's strength isn't in writing. It's also hard to have someone request a love letter. Love letters are to come from the heart, they aren't to be staged. Allow your boyfriend to express his feelings for you however he feels comfortable.

Some guys just do not know how to express themselves. Then there are those guys that feel they have to appear to be manly all the time and to them showing your feelings is not manly.

Perhaps, poetry is not one of his expertise or perhaps he prefers showing his love through his actions rather than words.
