I waited tables for five years and once I stopped I noticed that I gained about 10lbs. Now, I also have to say that I didn't really partake in any other real physical activity besides the waiting tables that is probably why I saw the gain once I stopped. If you are currently active, I don't think that it will make a big difference. However, if you are like me, and lazy in your normal everyday life, you may see some minor results. Just stay away from all the yummy fried restaurant food!

I started waiting tables again 5 months ago, thinking it would help me lose weight. I've not lost or gained anything. I think I'm just eating more to compensate for the energy I'm using.

Yes but working at a restaurant also means you'll be eating all of their food so you'll end up gaining weight. I've been serving for 2 yrs. It is good if you partake in no activity though.

walking is always great exercise. however, since you are only walking very short distances with a lot of stops in between, it won't do you a lot of good. just try and avoid the food at the restaurant, and keep your car parked a good distance from the door. that would be a good start.
