Our 2 month old kitten loves to chew on the power cords and cables. We have tried a water sprayer to deter her, but she does it when we are not home. Is there any thing we can spray on them to deter her?

Hi there...for deterring inappropriate cat behaviour around electrical wires consider using a cable wire loom to bundle up the the wires. The loom is very inexpensive and not only does it prevent the cat from tangling in the wires, but also tidies the area up as well.

Cable Organizer Wire Loom: http://cableorganizer.com/wire-loom/...

For the wires that are difficult to bundle consider using either apple cider vinegar or ara pet-friendly deterrent spray-on product called Grannick's Bitter Apple® http://www.grannicks.com usually found worldwide at most pet stores. It is a citrusy scent that once a cat tastes will generally avoid those areas which have that particular odour. Rather than directly spray these onto the wires and plugs, first unplug the surge suppressor then mist the solution on your hand to coat the wires manually.

You can try bitter apple spray but it will need to be reapplied often. They sell plastic tubing to put over electrical cords at the hardware store. Anything else (Ipod, laptop, etc) should be put away when not in use. She's lucky she hasn't been electrocuted yet. I know you said isolating her is not possible but there's no reason you can't set up a safe room (bathroom, spare bedroom, even a dog crate) for times when you can't supervise her such as when you are sleeping or at work. Otherwise make sure you unplug/power off everything she can reach before you leave or go to sleep. Good luck! Most grow out of but some unfortunately do not..

There is a spray you can buy at the pet store it is called bitter apple. Dogs and Cats hate the taste and will stay away from anything you put it on. It is not expensive at all and it will keep her from getting electricuted(sp?) Its called BITTER APPLE

Keep the cords plugged in and she will learn not to mess with them.

My one cat learned about electric the hard way. It didn't kill her but she knows what not to mess with now.

Well, I know my grandmother always put moth balls in her flower gardens to keep cats out and my mom always said that pepper is also something cats don't care for.....Good Luck.

I keep mine covered with a cable cover.
Please don't use moth balls. They are deadly to cats. Even the fumes can cause liver failure.
