Yes indeed, why not soften the blow? There are very few occasions in life that call for the unvarnished truth, and breaking up with a girl is not one of them. And since she is being left by a man as considerate as you, she is going to suffer enough, don't you think?

She may be heartbroken, but instead of giving her well-intentioned b.s., give her the real reason. Relationships are all about learning, and it is important that if at all possible, each person walks away with a factual perspective on the way it ended. This way, she can be aware of anything she could have done differently, and apply it to her next relationship. If you're concerned about her feelings, and it sounds like you are, it would be a better idea if you told her the truth. It may hurt more, but in the very least she'll respect you much more for having the cajones to tell her the truth.

Nope i would rather have the real reason because if someones gonna dump you it's already gonna hurt so why not tell the truth.

it depends on the girl. if the reason will hurt my feelings, i rather it be sugarcoated. if she a straight up women then tell her straight up without trying to hurt her feelings. Definitely soften the blow though.

as hard as it may be, try to be unbiased when you explain the truth, the moment you start to favor too much on one side, its over, lol

always tell the truth, just be nice about it. don't say anything that could make her feel that she's not lovable or not good enough. but be honest.
