the only thing it might help with in advancement is testing, if you have more knowledge in cooking, that is a plus, besides your degree, try to use that to get into private mess, if you are good and get to work for the Captain, who knows i have seen people get advanced promotions working for upper brass

You wont be able to answer this question until you've done some time in the Navy, then you will have a better view of where you want your life to go, how much you like or dislike the lifestyle, etc. What I can suggest is do as much of your education as you can while you are enlisted....It's practically FREE. 100% tuition assistance, you pay books and fees. It doesn't get much better than that! You'll regret it if you don't. The Navy is a great branch of the military, so you might decide that staying in the Navy is a good choice for you. Good luck in whatever you choose...GO NAVY!!!

Salaries in the Navy are uniform per rank and additional allowances are given depending on the type of work. There is no special fees for one who is a graduate in culinary arts but it is an advantage.

You should be able to get E-3 for that, as far as bonuses go, it all depends on what's available at the time you join. Just to let you know, the rate is currently over manned so advancement isn't all that great, hasn't been for years.

You should be able to join in at E-3 and get a $4000 sign on bonus but you need to check with a recruiter to make sure.

Talk to a Navy recruiter. They'll have the full story.

But knowing how the military tends to work, they'd probalby have you slinging hash on a sub.

Nope...My Grandpa was a chef in the Navy, he was head chef for two presidents...Talk to your recruiter and see what they can do for you. Don't let them try and talk you into something else if food is what you want to do. I waited a year before they had the job i wanted....
