The most popular wedding cake flavors are lemon, vanilla, chocolate, yellow, spice and carrot, raspberry or orange marmalade, chocolate mousse, hazelnut, amaretto, fraise du bois (miniature wild strawberries), Grand Marnier, and mousse in lemon, strawberry, raspberry or apricot flavors.

I had each tier a different flavor to satisfy ever guest. I personally wanted chocolate, but knew not everyone wanted that, so the very top tier was for me and the groom - in chocolate. The middle was strawberry, the next lemon, and the very bottom was just a plain white cake with icing, no filling.

Best of luck and congrats!

Instead of having to decide on one particular flavor, why don't you have a tiered cake and then have each tier as a different flavor? Also, even if you went with a traditional yellow cake, you could get a flavored filling to give it a different flavor. You could even do a different filling for each tier of the cake.

White & nasty carrot are among the most popular, however the new trend is a dessert table with a very small cake just for the "cutting". So cake favors are not a must any more. My friend did a box w/ 4 peite fours which was so nice as well my couisin did a small box with gourment chocolates.

I'd go with No. 2 if you have guests with nut allergies. If the servers aren't very careful there can be cross-contamination between the two desserts; for instance, they can use the same knife to cut them or the same server to place them on the plate. That can transfer enough nut to cause a life-threatening reaction. That type of cross-contamination is common enough, especially in wedding situations where the catering staff may be untrained part-time workers who may think food allergies are all hysterical psychosomatic claptrap - until someone gets sick, then they whine, "I didn't knowwww!" If you've got a close family member with a severe nut allergy, you might also want to get full ingredient lists for every single item on the menu. Often catering menus only list the most important ingredients, and don't include the fact that, say, the chicken is fried in peanut oil or a mixture of oils that includes peanut oil. (Peanut oil is dangerous because it's usually unrefined, which means it contains peanut protein. Unfortunately, people with nut allergies can cross-react with peanuts.)

I think, a lot of people like chocolate; I know many people who really like custard filling, or raspberry; I personally like whipped cream icing, and not the traditional buttercream. I think, the best wedding cake I've had was white with raspberry in the middle, and iced with whipped cream.

I like chocolate cake with white buttercream icing, not that nasty whipped cream junk! Raspberry filling is good in that too. We had purple orchids (real ones, not sugar) on our wedding cake and it was beautiful.

I also know someone who had a cheesecake wedding cake. Pretty cool!

Something really fun and unique one bride told me she did for her wedding cake was to get a layered cookie cake -- just like the flat cookie cakes except stacked and decorated to be just as gorgeous as any other wedding cake. That might be something fun that's so unique that almost everyone loves!
