tell him all he has to do is too show up and say, "I do." if it isn't costing him anything... enjoy...

yea, some guys don't like being the center of attention but a wedding is cause for celabration... and that's what others want to do... so kiss him on the forehead, tell him it will only hurt for about 6 hours and then he can has his way with you later that night...

oh.. also, no drinking for the husband,,,, just a little bit, keep him sober and by your side till it is proper for him and you to depart too your.. what ever...

the best thing you could do is to come to a compromise. you can cut out the stuff like cutting the cake throwing the garter stuff stuff like this if his fear is being in front of people. If you guys can't agree or come to a compromise on this your biggest worry should be the marriage not the wedding. I married a man who is the same way with crowds so I had a small wedding, but now he won't hardly ever do anything in public even getting him to go to the store is a challenge. It is very miserable being married to a man who doesn't want to be around people if your an outgoing person who wants to be around people and do stuff. I wish you all the luck in the world

Go with a smaller wedding. It will make your husband happy and you will save money. The wedding will be special enough since you are marrying the one you love. It's just one day.

If you love him, compromise. Have a small wedding and a big after party or vice versa. If you want what you want and cant take his feelings into consideration then you really should do some thinking about this decsion. When you truly love someone you put thier feelings ahead of your own.

you need to realize its not just your wedding, its his too. perhaps a compromise on a medium sized wedding. You really do not want to start off your married life with him resenting you, or you resenting him because of a wedding that did/did not happen to specification.

How selfish!! You should compromise a little but still plan a larger reception. More than anything they are scared about the alter not the beer!
