Make something so heavy that he can't lift it?
If he can do anything then why can't he lift it?
If you ask the ever so common question why would he want to then you didn't answer the question.
God is my saviour but lets not push Gods buttons too far.
I don't think God said he could do everything anyway. But it is said he has done more then I or you could ever do.
Many didn't believe we could ever land on the moon either but as perusual seeing is believeing. It's not a fairy tale anymore.
Please state your concepts.I love to hear them.Maybe I won't believe in your words either like you don't believe in the scriptures.Maybe you're just a hoax as well.If you don't respond to me then you should understand why God won't talk to us anymore either. No I bet you're to shallow to understand what I'm even trying to get at.

God is by definition the very source of knowledge, beauty, love and power... He CAN do anything... however quixotic in your perception...

Suppose an ardent devotee asks in loving fun (not an idle cynic like you) to create something he can not lift (by himself getting embodied for the purpose) he can do so by his WILL and if he then asks him to lift it without diminishing its weight, He will still comply by Himself assuming a bigger body (for, you had not said that he should lift it with the same body with which he made the article - weightier for that body - at the time of creation)... or some such thing... for He is source of all knowledge that he gave you and made you ask the question... Even if you insist that he should have the same body and energy that HE had at the time of creating that object still He could do it... There are any number of such feats told in the epics of Hindus..

A demon was asked to spell out his desire in response to the penance he did (as reward). He wanted to live for ever and when the God told him it was not possible but that he can ask for long life and the ways in which he can not be terminated from this world, he said that he should not die in the hands of an animal or a man or a demigod; or by weapons made of metallic or other weaponry of war; or fire or water; neither killed in the day time nor night time; neither within the house nor outside it; etc...

When the moment of his last time came as per destiny, the Lord assumed the form of half animal (lion's head) and half man (body down the head) which can not be called as either animal or man, fought till the evening arrived (at twilight which is neither day nor night), took him to the entry point of the palace (which is neither inside nor outside the house), put him on his lap (which is neither ground nor the sky) and tore him with his nails (neither metallic nor other weapon, fire or water) and terminated his life...

There are lot of stories like that in the Hindu epics to drive home the fact that the Divine is always master of the creative, protective and distructive (actually transformative) functions... You can not defeat your creator with the wisdom and power he has endowed you with...

I do not expect you to accept all this since the religious bigots have so much tainted your imaginations with their unholy actions of dividing man and man...

But God is a power not depending on the religious groups.. He creaed the sceptics as well with the holy idea to expose the hollowness of the hypocrytic clergy (in all religions)... His is the power and the glory..

I salute you for you are his police to disturb the conscience of the commercial and power crazy bigots...

The Age of Love will surely blossom and you will welcome the breeze of Truth and Love of the Godhood on earth...

I forget. When I was a little kid, if I asked my Mom something she did not know or did not want to tell me (like all that' where babies come from' stuff when I was 4 or 5) or even the weather, etc. she'd say something like "God does it". I would say, "I'm going to have to ask God about that when I die and go to heaven" A lot of the questions have been answered since by science or I've just forgotten about them. I don't think I'd ask things like "why are there wars" or "why are there famines" because I think the answer would be human greed, or human hatred or something like that. Instead I think I'd tell him I'm grateful for what he has done in my life and the good that has happened. On second thought, I might ask him why the Cardinals could not make it to the play-offs after such a good early season, and what is with the poor Cubs, they got so close?

Matty, I will try to answer your question although it is not well stated, so difficult to understand just exactly what it is you want to know. This question has been asked over and again (as to whether or not God can create something so heavy he cannot lift it.)

Can God make something so heavy that he can't lift it? First, God doesn't have a physical body with arms to lift anything, so this is really kind of a silly question. Anything God wanted to "lift" he would move it by "willing" it to be in the air. Your question is like comparing apples and oranges. It does not compute. By asking if God can create something he can't "lift" is like asking whether or not God can fail, and if he can't fail, well then he is not capable of doing "everything". Can you see the lunacy in that?

Maybe you won't believe in my words, but this is the best I can do to try to answer what I *think* you are asking.

Rock on.

You have asked a question that got me thinking on a different level. Thank you for that.

I did some looking about and my investigation found the answer you want. I say that you want as I am a believer in Jesus Christ and I have the answers I need.

use this link as they will explain it much better than I ever could:
http://www.philosophy.bham.ac.uk/pdf/Nagasawa/Stone.pdf

You have asked me a question and sent me on a quest to find an answer.

Now I will ask one of you. Read the book: The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel and tell me what you think secretary2498@yahoo.com. The book can be ordered used & delivered on Amazon for about 5-6 bucks.

I think your hurting to call Christians shallow. Why on earth would you waist your time posting a question on yahoo in the religion section?

My God set me free. I drink like a sailor, I talk like one! Free! What you do will not get you free, believing is Jesus Christ will. You need do nothing else.

Continue questing, find your path.

The philosophical question has been asked many times. The only problem every attempted answer uses logic, a form of science that requires observation. It is often express in an Aristotelian logic (two values).

Using revealed know, we know that God is spirit and that God existed before he/she/it created everything we can observed. God is in and out of our world (Universe).

Now both to you question requiring God creating some thing that be can't lift. Lift is a physical term that is based on observation (science). God either lifts and he/she/it does lift. To lift or not to lift has meaning in the observable world, what does it mean in the non observable world. Can God lift or not lift something he created. Unfortunately, there is no revealed information regarding this. Simple put, God did tell us.

However going beyond Aristotelian logic, we have four possibilities: God neither lift or not lift, God can lift, God can not lift, and finally , God can both lift and non lift. Assume that it is the fourth possibility. What does that do to your augment?

I've always loved this riddle........

The answer would have to be  , GOD can create an object that is so heavy that HE cannot lift it.
""" IF """, IN FACT!---> THOSE WERE HIS ABSOLUTE INTENTIONS> HE cannot go against HIS own will or word. So, technically, yes....its possible that the Lord cannot lift the object. UNTIL, of course....GOD simply speaks or thinks the thing out of existence. and on and on and so forth.

OUR GOD is an Awesome GOD, to be reverenced and worshiped in spirit and in truth!!~ <>< <>< <><

Religous folks like to hit you with things like "Do not test the Lord" and such, but seriously. When I was Christian and prayed for those with AIDS, Cancer, the homeless, the poor, the war...

I sure as hell wasn't TESTING him of all things.

They also say things like "God is beyond your realm of understanding." Well, that would make a lot more sense. But if they can't answer the question with a yes or no, I doubt they're sure of his existance themselves.

Are you dealing with something that is haunting you?

I have allowed God to do a lot of things in my life that I thought were impossible but the key was that I was willing and strive to continue to be willing everyday. God lifts something off of my life everyday. I ask for help and for one more day I get to live sober.

Whoever you are, where ever you are, you are loved as you are.

God doesn't save us against our will. If he's saved your life once, or more than once, it's been to give you a chance to repent and be forgiven of sin. He is the God of the living, not of the dead. Once you're dead then that's it. No more chance for repentance and remission of sin unto eternal life.
