Years ago I heard a statement answered by a very highly respected Pastor and teacher on the subject. He said " If the old barn needs painting, then paint it."
There is nothing wrong with looking good. There is something wrong if you spend more time on your looks than you do on God.

For some people, it's a sin not to wear make-up. You should see me without it.
Why is it a sin to get a tattoo. Some tattoos have a lot of meaning behind them.

Wearing make up is not a sin it is similar to art the use of right colors and hues of skin to match is simply artform and the use of brushes for different applications on the brows, eyes, face.
Tatto are also an artform to many society and culture, they are also use as symbols for some. I do respect however that some society or religion may consider it a sin and if that is the case on your side then you should not wear make up or tatto as you are going against the value system of your religion or culture.

Depends on the intentions and motives. It is all a matter of the heart.
Two persons can commit the identical act and one stands guiltless before God while the other stands guilty.
The two elements of sin – action and intent – must be fully understood before one can label certain behaviors as sinful, and this is where standards get it wrong. Standards focus on the action without fully considering many of the true intentions and motives behind the action. One cannot say that wearing jewelry is a sin, or that women who wear makeup or pants are committing a sin, without first knowing their intent. If a woman wears makeup to entice men, she is in sin. If a woman wears makeup to appear more clean and presentable, where is her sin? If a woman wears pants to be more “manly,” she is in sin. If a woman wears pants to keep warm or to be more comfortable while working in her garden, where is the sin? If a man wears jewelry as a display of his wealth, he is in sin. If he wears jewelry as a display of his faith, where is his sin?
Hope this helps...

The religious right in the country are teaching the wrong things.
You have been set free!! Your past, present, and future sins have all been paid for.
All that is required of you to have faith. If you want to have make-up, drink a beer (if you're old enough), go for it. Christianity is not meant to chain you. Don't let those who want to tell you differently, do so.
You are free. It is a simple message, a true gift.

Who says it's a sin to get a tattoo? If that isn't (it's not), then neither is makeup or tanning. *Vanity* is the problem.

Definately. You get darned to heck for wearing makeup. Tanning is okay as long as there's no visible tan lines.
